Ritual Fog is an American death metal band from Memphis. The group was born out of a fascination with the dark, suffocating sound of classic death metal, enriched with modern, distinctive elements. Their music is an intense blend of brutal riffs, heavy drums, and harsh vocals, often immersed in a grim, doom-laden atmosphere. Their discography includes three releases: a split with Pissrot, an EP, and a full-length album released in 2024. Below is a review of their debut long play.

Ritual Fog’s debut album is a brutal, uncompromising statement of modern death metal that looks to the past with respect but refuses to follow its patterns. „But Merely Flesh” delivers around thirty minutes of dense, suffocating sound, where every riff cuts like a rusty blade and the drums strike with mechanical precision. The vocals fall somewhere between a graveyard roar and a ritual lament – perfectly matching the album’s bleak atmosphere. The band doesn’t aim for technical showmanship. The album’s strength lies in its atmosphere: heavy, sticky-dark, and full of tension. At times, doom metal influences emerge, slowing the narrative without weakening it. The production is raw but selective, emphasizing the organic nature of the recordings. „But Merely Flesh” is for those who seek more than just noise in metal. There is space here, filth, ritual, and rage. A solid debut that signals Ritual Fog’s growing presence on the extreme scene.

Ritual Fog to amerykański zespół death metalowy pochodzący z Memphis. Grupa narodziła się z fascynacji mrocznym, dusznym brzmieniem klasycznego death metalu, wzbogaconym o nowoczesne, wyraziste akcenty. Ich muzyka to intensywna mieszanka brutalnych riffów, ciężkiej perkusji i chropowatego wokalu, często zanurzona w ponurej, doomowej atmosferze. W ich dyskografii znajdziemy trzy pozycje: split z Pissrot, EP-kę oraz pełnowymiarowy album wydany w 2024 roku. Poniżej znajduje się recenzja ich debiutanckiego longplaya.
