Drawn and Quartered is an American death metal band formed in Seattle in 1994. The group is known for its dark, brutal sound and strong roots in old-school death metal, often compared to such giants as Incantation and Immolation. Their music combines intense riffs, deep growls, and lyrics focused on themes of death, occultism, and destructNucion. Their discography includes nine albums, the most recent of which, released just days ago, will be the subject of this review.
After more than 30 years of activity, Drawn and Quartered remain true to their roots, and 'Lord of Two Horns’ only strengthens their position as one of the most reliable representatives of American death metal. This album is a brutal, straightforward, yet atmospherically dark manifestation of the underground spirit that resists trends and compromises. From the very first seconds of the opening track, the band’s signature wall of sound hits hard—dense, cutting riffs and a suffocating, funereal atmosphere. The guitar creates an almost claustrophobic tension. There is no excessive technical showmanship here—the power of this music lies in its ritualistic, meaty sound and repetitive, hypnotic structures. The vocals sound like the voice of a demon from the depths of hell. A deep growl, not overprocessed, which makes it authentic and evocative. The lyrics still revolve around themes of blasphemy, death, and ritual violence. The production deserves praise. The sound is clear but not sterile. The band has preserved the rawness that suits their style. The drums, though slightly recessed in the mix at times, strike with force and precision. The rhythm section doesn’t strive for intricacy—its task is to lead the march into darkness, and it does so effectively. 'Lord of Two Horns’ is an album that doesn’t try to be modern or “current.” Instead, it offers a sincere, dark, and uncompromising face of death metal in its classic, unapologetic form. For old-school death metal maniacs, this is essential listening.

Drawn and Quartered to amerykański zespół death metalowy założony w Seattle w 1994 roku. Grupa znana jest z mrocznego, brutalnego brzmienia i silnego zakorzenienia w oldschoolowym death metalu, często porównywana do takich gigantów jak Incantation czy Immolation. Ich muzyka łączy intensywne riffy, głęboki growl oraz teksty skupione na tematyce śmierci, okultyzmu i zniszczenia. Ich dyskografia obejmuje dziewięć albumów, a ostatni z nich, wydany na dniach będzie przedmiotem niniejszej recenzji.
Po ponad 30 latach działalności, Drawn and Quartered pozostają wierni swoim korzeniom, a 'Lord of Two Horns’ tylko umacnia ich pozycję jako jednego z najbardziej niezawodnych przedstawicieli amerykańskiego death metalu. Album ten to brutalna, nieskomplikowana, ale zarazem pełna mrocznego klimatu manifestacja undergroundowego ducha, który nie ulega trendom ani kompromisom. Już od pierwszych sekund otwierającego utworu uderza charakterystyczna dla zespołu ściana dźwięku – gęste, cięte riffy i duszna, grobowa atmosfera. Gitara buduje niemal klaustrofobiczne napięcie. Nie znajdziemy tu nadmiernej technicznej ekwilibrystyki – siła tej muzyki tkwi w rytualnym, mięsistym brzmieniu i powtarzalnych, hipnotyzujących strukturach. Wokal brzmi jak głos demona z głębin piekieł. Głęboki growl, nieprzesadzony z efektami, a przez to autentyczny i sugestywny. Teksty wciąż krążą wokół motywów bluźnierstwa, śmierci i rytualnej przemocy. Produkcja zasługuje na pochwałę. Brzmienie jest czytelne, ale nie sterylne. Zespół zachował surowość, która pasuje do ich stylu. Perkusja, choć miejscami lekko cofnięta w miksie uderza z siłą i precyzją. Sekcja rytmiczna nie sili się na zawiłości, jej zadaniem jest prowadzić marsz ku mrokowi, a robi to skutecznie. 'Lord of Two Horns’ to płyta, która nie próbuje być nowoczesna ani „na czasie”. Zamiast tego oferuje szczere, mroczne i bezkompromisowe oblicze death metalu w jego klasycznej, bezczelnej formie. Dla maniaków odlschoolowego death metalu pozycja obowiązkowa.
