Vomitrot is a Swedish extreme death metal band formed in 2019 in the city of Trollhättan. The group consists of three seasoned musicians who are also active in other projects, which contributes to their high level of skill and sonic maturity. Their work is an uncompromising blend of brutal death metal infused with elements of war metal and grindcore. Their discography includes two studio albums, a demo, and a single that served as a preview of their latest release. The following review focuses on this most recent material, which showcases the full scope of their savage aesthetic and the band’s stylistic evolution.
Vomitrot returns with a new release that dropped in late August 2024. 'Emetic Imprecations’ features six tracks with a total runtime of just under 26 minutes — a seemingly short record, yet incredibly dense and unrelentingly intense. From the very first seconds, the album assaults the listener with a merciless wall of sound, and the intensity doesn’t let up until the final moments. The song structures are varied — ranging from fast, pulse-pounding sections filled with blast beats to crushing, almost funeral-paced slowdowns that hit with massive weight. Aggression pours from every moment; the drums explode in bursts of brutality, and the dynamic shifts in rhythm are truly striking. What stands out most is the material’s stylistic diversity. Vomitrot effortlessly weaves between death metal, black metal, and doom, creating a sonic landscape rich in contrast, dread, and darkness. These influences aren’t just subtle undertones — they are deliberate, clearly articulated, and deeply embedded in the entire recording. The result? Vomitrot to pochodzący ze Szwecji zespół grający ekstremalny death metal, powstały w 2019 roku w mieście Trollhättan. Grupę tworzy trzech doświadczonych muzyków, aktywnych również w innych formacjach, co przekłada się na wysoki poziom ich umiejętności i dojrzałość brzmieniową. Ich twórczość to bezkompromisowa mieszanka brutalnego death metalu z elementami war metalu i grindcore’u. W dorobku mają dwa albumy studyjne, demo oraz singiel, który stanowił przedsmak ich najnowszego wydawnictwa. Poniższa recenzja dotyczyć będzie właśnie tego ostatniego materiału, który ukazuje pełnię ich brutalnej estetyki i rozwój stylistyczny zespołu.

'Emetic Imprecations’ to sześć utworów trwających łącznie niespełna 26 minut – pozornie krótki materiał, ale za to niesamowicie skondensowany i bezkompromisowy. Od pierwszych sekund album atakuje słuchacza bezlitosną ścianą dźwięku, a intensywność nie słabnie aż do ostatnich taktów. Struktury kompozycji są zróżnicowane – od ekspresyjnych, szybkopulsujących partii przepełnionych blastami, po ciężkie, niemal funeralne zwolnienia, które wgniatają w ziemię swoim masywnym brzmieniem. Agresja wylewa się z każdego fragmentu – perkusja eksploduje serią brutalnych uderzeń, a dynamiczne przejścia między rytmami robią ogromne wrażenie. Na szczególne uznanie zasługuje stylistyczna różnorodność materiału. Vomitrot swobodnie porusza się między death metalem, black metalem a doomem, tworząc soniczny krajobraz pełen kontrastów, grozy i mroku. Te wpływy nie są jedynie subtelnym tłem – są wyraźne, świadomie zastosowane i mocno wybrzmiewające w całym materiale. Efekt? Muzyka, która nie tylko wgniata w fotel, ale i zostaje w głowie na długo po przesłuchaniu.
