From The Vastland is an Iranian black metal band founded in 2010 by a musician known under the pseudonym Sina. The project originally emerged in Tehran, but due to the difficult conditions for metal musicians in Iran, Sina relocated to Norway, where he continued the band’s activity. From The Vastland combines classic Norwegian black metal with Middle Eastern melodies and themes rooted in Iranian mythology and history. Recently, we published an interview with the band’s frontman, and in the section below you can read a review of their 2024 album.

The eighth full-length release from From The Vastland, 'Tenebrous Shadow’, continues the band’s journey through the dark depths of Persian mythology, blending traditional Norwegian black metal with oriental motifs. The album features seven tracks, with a total runtime of forty-three minutes. From the opening to the final note, the sonic landscape is marked by impressive dynamics, fierce blast beats, and atmospheric soundscapes that reflect the aura of Middle Eastern legends and the darkness inherent to the genre. While the production is polished and precise, the music retains its raw edge, seamlessly intertwining with somber melodies. The album explores varied tempos — and although the intense drumming left a strong impression, it was the mid-paced and slower passages that truly captivated me with their hypnotic and immersive qualities. 'Tenebrous Shadow’ is a release that will resonate with both long-time fans of the band and devotees of classic black metal seeking fresh inspiration. It is an album rich in passion, instrumental mastery, and a profound connection to Middle Eastern culture. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

From The Vastland to irański zespół black metalowy założony przez muzyka o pseudonimie Sina w 2010 roku. Początkowo projekt powstał w Teheranie, jednak ze względu na trudne warunki dla muzyków metalowych w Iranie, Sina przeniósł się do Norwegii, gdzie kontynuował działalność zespołu. From The Vastland łączy klasyczny norweski black metal z bliskowschodnimi melodiami i tematyką mitologiczną oraz historyczną Iranu. Niedawno na naszych łamach ukazał się wywiad z liderem zespołu, a w poniższej części możecie przeczytać recenzję albumu z 2024 roku.

Ósmy longplay formacji From The Vastland, Tenebrous Shadow, kontynuuje wędrówkę zespołu przez mroczne głębiny perskiej mitologii, łącząc tradycyjny norweski black metal z orientalnymi motywami. Album zawiera siedem kompozycji, których łączny czas trwania wynosi czterdzieści trzy minuty. Warstwa dźwiękowa od pierwszego do ostatniego numeru cechuje się imponującą zmiennością, gwałtownymi blastami oraz dźwiękowymi pejzażami oddającymi atmosferę bliskowschodnich legend i mroku gatunku. Tenebrous Shadow to wydawnictwo, które przypadnie do gustu zarówno oddanym sympatykom zespołu, jak i wielbicielom klasycznego black metalu poszukującym świeżych impulsów. To album nasycony pasją, instrumentalnym kunsztem oraz głębokim zakorzenieniem w kulturze Bliskiego Wschodu. Z pełnym przekonaniem polecam.
