Crucifier is an American death/black metal band founded in 1990 by Cazz Grant, who has remained the primary creative force and leader of the group since its inception. Their music combines the brutality of death metal with the dark, raw atmosphere of black metal. The band is known for aggressive riffs, fast tempos, and lyrics that delve into themes of Satanism, occultism, and war. Crucifier has released numerous demos, EPs, and three full-length albums. Despite various lineup changes, the band has consistently maintained a brutal, uncompromising style of expression. 'Say Your Prayers’ is an EP released in 2022—and it will be the subject of today’s review.
Crucifier returns with the EP 'Say Your Prayers’, released in 2022 through Iron Bonehead Productions. It delivers 26 minutes of uncompromising, traditional death/black metal, paying homage to the genre’s legends, with the unmistakable spirit of Profanatica lingering throughout. The release opens with a dark intro—a calm before the storm—as the following track plunges the listener into a whirlwind of relentless, high-speed tempos, pierced by a hellish growl that repels with its raw filthiness. The compositions clearly reveal a strong black metal influence running at full throttle, though slower passages emerge as well, adding a massive atmosphere and an overwhelming sense of dread. The production maintains a rough, organic feel—drums and vocals stand at the forefront, dominating the mix. While some may see this as a flaw, in this context it enhances the wildness and primal force of the music. This release is a solid dose of extreme metal aimed at fans of raw, old-school underground sound. Ich muzyka łączy brutalność death metalu z mrocznym, surowym klimatem black metalu. Charakterystyczne dla zespołu są agresywne riffy, szybkie tempa oraz teksty nawiązujące do satanizmu, okultyzmu i wojny. Crucifier wydał liczne dema, EP-ki i trzy albumy. Mimo zmian w składzie, Crucifier konsekwentnie utrzymuje brutalną, niekomercyjną formę ekspresji. ‘Say Your Prayers’ to materiał EP, który ukazał się w 2022 roku – będzie on przedmiotem dzisiejszej recenzji.

Crucifier pokazuje, że mimo upływu lat wciąż potrafi dostarczyć muzykę pełną pasji i intensywności.
