Cemetery Rot is an American death metal band from California, drawing inspiration from the classic sound of the 90s. The band was founded by Gar (guitar and vocals), Sebastian (bass guitar) and Zain (drums). Their work is distinguished by massive, raw riffs and low, growled vocals. In December 2023, their single 'It Came From the Sewers’ was released, which won the favor of listeners. In April 2024, their first EP release saw the light of day, titled 'Euphoric Consumption of Human Flesh’, which is an intense dose of old-school death metal.
The debut EP by the American band Cemetery Rot, 'Euphoric Consumption of Human Flesh’, is an uncompromising nod to classic death metal from the 90s. Drawing on the spirit of old demos, the band serves up material that is brutal, dirty and saturated with primal energy. The EP consists of five compositions with a total duration of just over fourteen minutes – short, but intense. The sound of Cemetery Rot is a gloomy journey through decay and decay. From the very first seconds, the musicians do not give a moment’s respite – fast tempos, aggressive, musty riffs and a stifling atmosphere bring to mind stinking catacombs. The sound is as thick as fog in a morgue – you could almost cut it with a knife. Although the solo parts appear sparingly, each of them can send shivers through the body. The weight of the sound is intensified by the vocals, which attack the listener with a low, sepulchral growl. What’s more, the vocalist sometimes moves into higher, screeching registers, which add expressiveness and are easier to remember. The drums are one of the foundations of this material – raw, heavy and devoid of unnecessary ornaments. Zain does not try to use technical fireworks – his playing is an organic, simple thud, which evokes the spirit of recordings from the late 80s and early 90s. It is a rhythmic background of decay, perfectly fulfilling its role. 'Euphoric Consumption of Human Flesh’ is a solid debut, which will certainly appeal to fans of old-school death metal. Cemetery Rot with great sensitivity reflect the atmosphere of a bygone era, offering music that is dirty, heavy and permeated with the atmosphere of death.

Zespół został założony z inicjatywy Gar’a (gitara i wokal), Sebastiana (gitara basowa) oraz Zaina (perkusja). Ich twórczość wyróżnia się masywnymi, surowymi riffami i niskim, growlowanym wokalem. W grudniu 2023 roku ukazał się ich singiel 'It Came From the Sewers’, który zdobył przychylność słuchaczy. W kwietniu 2024 roku światło dzienne ujrzało ich pierwsze wydawnictwo EP, noszące tytuł 'Euphoric Consumption of Human Flesh’, stanowiące intensywną dawkę oldschoolowego death metalu.

Od pierwszych sekund muzycy nie dają chwili wytchnienia – szybkie tempa, agresywne, zatęchłe riffy oraz duszna atmosfera przywodzą na myśl cuchnące katakumby. Dźwięk jest gęsty niczym mgła w kostnicy – można go niemal kroić nożem. Choć partie solowe pojawiają się oszczędnie, to każda z nich potrafi przeszyć ciało dreszczem. Ciężar dźwięku potęguje wokal, który atakuje słuchacza niskim, grobowym growlem. Co więcej, wokalista niekiedy przechodzi w wyższe, skrzeczące rejestry, które dodają wyrazistości i łatwiej zapadają w pamięć. Perkusja to jeden z fundamentów tego materiału – surowa, ciężka i pozbawiona zbędnych ozdobników. Zain nie sili się na techniczne fajerwerki – jego gra to organiczny, prosty łomot, który przywołuje ducha nagrań z końcówki lat 80. i początku 90. To rytmiczne tło rozkładu, doskonale spełniające swoją rolę.’Euphoric Consumption of Human Flesh’ to solidny debiut, który z pewnością trafi w gust miłośników staroszkolnego death metalu. Cemetery Rot z dużym wyczuciem oddają klimat minionej epoki, oferując muzykę brudną, ciężką i przesiąkniętą atmosferą śmierci.
