WUODAN’S WUNDE – Es glimmt empor aus ewger Nacht

I got my hands on an enigmatic material from the Austrian Wuodan’s Wunde, about which I have found practically only a handful of information, which indicates that there is one album in the discography, released in 2023. It is not entirely known whether this is a project or a band, who plays in it, or in what year it was founded. I have always liked such mysterious bands and to this day I still do, so I turn on ‘Es glimmt empor aus ewger Nacht’ with all the more enthusiasm.
It has been some time since this album appeared on the black metal scene, but only now I had the opportunity to listen to it and honestly I was not disappointed. The music is a combination of black metal and dungeon synth in a raw, but also atmospheric matter. The first sounds enchanted me with the classic dungeon synth, which threw me into the musty depths of old dungeons. The raw sound of the guitars sent a cold shiver down my spine. On the one hand, we have melodic and relaxing keyboard parts, and on the other hand, the melodies are muffled by furious guitar riffs maintained at fast tempos. The mind is trying to relax, but after a while it is tortured by filthy and furious guitar, drum and vocal parts. This material is closed in forty-six minutes and consists of five tracks. This album will certainly not appeal to all tastes of black metal maniacs, because at times I have the impression that the atmosphere is dominated by dungeon synth, and the guitars only generate a layer of darkness and very negative emotions, introducing a large dose of chaos into well-composed keyboards. However, it is worth getting to know this material, because it is like a journey through dangerous regions of an unknown world.

W moje ręce wpadł enigmatyczny materiał austriackiego Wuodan’s Wunde, o którym praktycznie znalazłem zaledwie garść informacji, które wskazują na to, że w dyskografii jest jeden album, wydany w 2023 roku. Nie wiadomo do końca, czy to jest projekt, czy zespół, kto w nim gra, ani w którym roku został założony. Zawsze lubiłem takie tajemnicze zespoły i do dzisiaj mi to zostało, więc z tym większym zapałem włączam ‘Es glimmt empor aus ewger Nacht’.
Już minął jakiś czas, kiedy pojawił się ten album na black metalowej scenie, ale dopiero teraz miałem okazję go przesłuchać i szczerze mówiąc nie zawiodłem się. Muzyka to połączenie black metalu i dungeon synth w surową, ale i atmosferyczną materię. Już pierwsze dźwięki oczarowały mnie klasycznym dungeon synthem, który rzucił mnie w zatęchłą czeluść starych lochów. Surowe brzmienie gitar sprawiło, że wzdłuż kręgosłupa przeszedł zimny dreszcz. Z jednej strony mamy tu melodyjne i odprężające partie klawiszowe, a z drugiej strony melodie są tłumione przez wściekłe riffy gitar utrzymane w szybkich tempach. Niby umysł próbuje się odprężyć, ale po chwili zostaje poddany torturom przez obskurne i wściekłe partie gitar, perkusji i wokalu. Materiał ten zamyka się w czterdziestu sześciu minutach i składa się na niego pięć utworów. Ten album z pewnością nie trafi we wszystkie gusta maniaków black metalowych brzmień, bo momentami mam wrażenie, że dominuje w nim atmosfera oparta na dungeon synth, a gitary generują tylko warstwę mroku i bardzo negatywnych emocji, wprowadzają sporą dawkę chaosu w dobrze skomponowane klawisze. Jednak warto zapoznać się z tym materiałem, bo jest on jak podróż przez niebezpieczne rejony nieznanego świata.
