I really struggled to remember the name of this band when I came across it, who would have thought that Krucifix spelled backwards could create so much trouble. The gentlemen from Xificurk have a rather clear problem with the monotheistic plague, and their new album is a cannon aimed at an Islamic god who should have been buried in desert sand long ago. As for the band itself – it was formed in 2019 in Gdynia and since the year of its foundation it has released several smaller releases, and '1096′ is still a hot album that has just premiered. The core of the band is made up of two people – Sitre De Sitirin and Temira De Temirin.
As the title of the album says, the content of the music refers to the crusade to the Promised Land, only it is presented in a slightly different light, because this land is to be burned and plundered… and I really like this turn of events. After a rather long, sometimes disturbing intro, we move on to fast numbers in a black metal atmosphere. The music is kept in fast tempos, but there are also slowdowns, which makes this material very well thought out. The album contains nine tracks with a total duration of over fifty-one minutes. This material surprised me positively with the compositions prepared by the musicians. Keyboard instruments fit perfectly between the guitars, which slightly warms up the sound with dark ambient arrangements. It is well-captured so that it does not muffle the work of the guitar, and at the same time the keyboards are a clear element here. The guitars of course attack with their fast picking in tremolo, but you can also be surprised by the more delicate transition to the clean channel. The drums feel great in fast tempos, which makes the kick drum tap out this unholy rhythm on its own. The vocals are powerful. It is a screeching, throat-shredding scream. You can feel the darkness and negative emotions in it. Finally, I’ll add that my tastes were most strongly affected by the song whose lyrics are written in Polish (’Niech Cię Szlag’), which sounds like some kind of curse. I hope that Xificurk is already making plans for a new religious war and will seal it with new material.

Bardzo się namęczyłem, jeśli chodzi o zapamiętanie nazwy tego zespołu, gdy na nią trafiłem, kto by pomyślał, że Krucifix zapisany odwrotnie może stworzyć tyle problemu. Panowie z Xificurk mają raczej wyraźny problem z monoteistyczną zarazą, a ich nowy album to działo wymierzone w islamskiego boga, który dawno powinien zostać zasypany pustynnym piaskiem. Co do samego zespołu – powstał on w 2019 roku w Gdyni i od roku założenia wydał kilka mniejszych wydawnictw, a ‘1096’ to jeszcze gorący album, który właśnie miał swoją premierę. Trzon zespołu tworzą dwie osoby – Sitre De Sitirin i Temira De Temirin.
Jak mówi tytuł albumu, treść muzyki odnosi się do wyprawy krzyżowej do Ziemi Obiecanej, tylko jest to ujęte w nieco innym świetle, bo ta kraina ma zostać spalona i splądrowana… i taki obrót spraw bardzo mi się podoba. Po dość długim, momentami niepokojącym intro przechodzimy do szybkich numerów utrzymanych w black metalowym klimacie. Muzyka jest utrzymana w szybkich tempach, jednak pojawiają się również zwolnienia, co czyni ten materiał bardzo przemyślanym. Na krążku znalazło się dziewięć utworów o łącznym czasie trwania wynoszącym ponad pięćdziesiąt jeden minut. Materiał ten zaskoczył mnie pozytywnie kompozycjami przygotowanymi przez muzyków. Świetnie wpasowano pomiędzy gitary instrumenty klawiszowe, co nieco ociepla brzmienie dark ambientowymi aranżacjami. Jest to na tyle dobrze ujęte, że nie przytłumia pracy gitary, a jednocześnie klawisze są tu wyraźnym elementem. Gitary oczywiście atakują swoim szybkim kostkowaniem w tremolo, ale można się zaskoczyć również bardziej delikatnym przejściem na czysty kanał. Perkusja świetnie się czuje w szybkich tempach, co sprawia, że stopa sama z siebie wystukuje ten nieświęty rytm. Wokal jest potężny. To skrzeczący, zdzierający gardło krzyk. Czuć w nim mrok i negatywne emocje. Na koniec jeszcze dodam, że w moje gusta najmocniej uderzył utwór, którego tekst jest zapisany w języku polskim (’Niech cię szlag’), który brzmi jak jakaś klątwa. Mam nadzieję, że Xificurk snuje już kolejne plany na nową religijną wojnę i przypieczętuje to nowym materiałem.
