Ritual Clearing and its debut material have been waiting in line for a long time to be listened to and I finally got around to it. The band comes from the USA and is quite fresh, because it was formed in 2019. Its ranks are made up of musicians who are involved in other black metal projects – including Death Vanish and Scythewarden. In addition to the EP discussed here, an album was released at the end of 2023.
The music composed for this material surprised me with its incredible energy, but also raw form. The sounds remind me a bit of another American band – One Master. Although 'Ritual Clearing’ sounds like an uncut black diamond from the black metal abyss, it has quite a decent production, which allows each of the instruments to be heard well, without straining the hearing organ. There is no cacophonous wall of sound here, but one can get the impression that the noise level achieved is downright monumental. This material is not very long, it is only four tracks with a total duration of almost twenty-seven minutes. The sinister atmosphere takes on the density of heated tar, and tremolo riffs spit out obscure melodies every now and then to the glory of the horned one. The melodies that came out here do not encourage listening to this music, unless you are a seasoned listener of extreme sounds. The bass guitar is overwhelming with its low tone; it makes the atmosphere even more stuffy. The drums cope well with fast tempos, but I have the impression that they are a bit drowned out by the guitar tracks. In fact, you can get used to it and somehow it does not even bother you. The screaming, screeching vocals take no prisoners. They do not escape into melodic or clean chants. Thanks to which in the musical matter there is room only for negative emotions. It’s worth listening to this material, and if you’re buying tapes, you’d better hurry because not much of them were released.

Ritual Clearing i jego debiutancki materiał czekał już dłuższy czas w kolejce na odsłuchy i w końcu zabrałem się za niego. Zespół pochodzi z USA i jest dość świeży, bo powstał w 2019 roku. Jego szeregi tworzą muzycy, którzy udzielają się w innych black metalowych projektach – między innymi w Death Vanish i Scythewarden. Prócz omawianej tu EP-ki, pod koniec 2023 roku ukazał się album.
Muzyka, jaką skomponowano na ten materiał, zaskoczyła mnie niesamowitą energią, ale i surową formą. Dźwięki kojarzą mi się trochę z innym amerykańskim zespołem – One Master. ‘Ritual Clearing’ chociaż brzmi jak nieoszlifowany czarny diament z black metalowej czeluści, to ma całkiem przyzwoitą produkcję, która pozwala na to, by każdy z instrumentów był dobrze słyszalny, bez wytężania narządu słuchu. Nie ma tu kakofonicznej ściany dźwięku, ale można odnieść wrażenie, że poziom hałasu jaki osiągnięto jest wręcz monumentalny. Materiał ten nie jest zbyt długi, to tylko cztery utwory o łącznym czasie trwania wynoszącym prawie dwadzieścia siedem minut. Złowieszcza atmosfera przybiera gęstość rozgrzanej smoły, a riffy tremolo wypluwają co chwilę obskurne melodie ku chwale rogatego. Melodie, jakie tu wyszły, nie zachęcają do słuchania tej muzyki, chyba że jesteś wytrawnym słuchaczem ekstremalnych brzmień. Gitara basowa swoim niskim tonem przytłacza; sprawia, że atmosfera staje się jeszcze bardziej duszna. Perkusja fajnie radzi sobie w szybkich tempach, ale odnoszę wrażenie, że jest trochę zagłuszona przez ścieżki gitar. W zasadzie można się do tego przyzwyczaić i jakoś to nawet nie przeszkadza. Wrzeszczący, skrzekliwy wokal nie bierze jeńców. Nie ucieka w melodyjne lub czyste zaśpiewy. Dzięki czemu w materii muzycznej jest miejsce tylko na negatywne emocje. Warto przesłuchać ten materiał, a jeżeli kupujecie taśmy, to trzeba się pośpieszyć, bo dużo tego nie wyszło.
