Venefixion is a French representative of the death metal scene, and it was formed in 2013 on the initiative of K. Desecrator and F. Goathroat. The first demo material was released in 2015, and the full-fledged – and so far only album was made in 2021. In the meantime, the band’s lineup changed and currently, in addition to Desecrator responsible for guitar, bass and drums, there are two more musicians: R. Cadaver and Thomas Njodr. The year 2025 resulted in the short EP material 'Anointed in Nazarean Blood’, and we will devote a few words about the debut album.
How good it is to come across such material, which in the current times refers to the old-school climate, while maintaining the raw sound and precision of the composition. The first track (Resurrection) is full of disturbing sounds that herald an even more sinister atmosphere. The album contains nine tracks, with a total time of almost thirty-six minutes. I really liked the changes in tempo from slow, at times almost doom metal, to fast parts, full of aggression and dark atmosphere. There may not be any blasting drums here, but the musical material contained on this album can hit with its weight. There are many furious guitar riffs here, which are destructive and gloomy. The solo parts penetrate the mind with surgical precision. The drums are slightly behind, but still sound like a rain of falling bombs. This is an element that can raise the pulse. These fast drum transitions came out great. The vocals are a rough growling that can kick your ass. It is also surprising that they appear for a moment in clean chants, which have a slightly mystical overtone. I have to admit that this material somehow slips away too quickly, and I still want to listen to it. ‘A Sigh from Below’ is an album for classic death metal maniacs. It will certainly catch the eye of many metalheads. I recommend it.

Venefixion to francuski przedstawiciel death metalowej sceny, a powstał on w 2013 roku z inicjatywy K. Desecratora i F. Goathroat. Pierwszy materiał demo ukazał się w 2015 roku, a pełnoprawnego – i jak do tej pory jedynego albumu dorobili się w 2021. W międzyczasie pozmieniał się skład zespołu i obecnie oprócz Desecratora odpowiedzialnego za gitarę, bas i bębny, znajduje się w nim dwóch muzyków: R. Cadaver i Thomas Njodr. Rok 2025 zaowocował krótkim materiałem EP 'Anointed in Nazarean Blood’, a my poświęcimy kilka słów na temat debiutanckiego albumu.
Jak to dobrze jest trafić na taki materiał, co w obecnych czasach nawiązuje do oldschoolowego klimatu, zachowując surowe brzmienie i precyzje kompozycji. Już pierwszy utwór (Resurrection) pełen jest niepokojących dźwięków, które zapowiadają jeszcze bardziej złowieszczą atmosferę. Na krążku znajdziemy dziewięć utworów, o łącznym czasie wynoszącym blisko trzydzieści sześć minut. Bardzo spodobały mi się zmiany temp od wolnych, momentami niemal doom metalowych, po szybkie partie, pełne agresji i mrocznej atmosfery. Może i nie ma tu blastującej perkusji, ale materia muzyczna zawarta na tym albumie potrafi przywalić ciężarem. Znajdziemy tu dużo wściekłych gitarowych riffów, które są niszczycielskie i posępne. Partie solowe wbijają się w umysł z chirurgiczną precyzją. Perkusja jest jakby delikatnie w tyle, ale i tak brzmi jak deszcz spadających bomb. To element, który potrafi podnieść tętno. Wspaniale wyszły te szybkie przejścia na bębnach. Wokal to chropowaty growling, który potrafi dopierdolić do pieca. Zaskakuje również to, że na moment pojawia się on w czystych zaśpiewach, które mają nieco mistyczny wydźwięk. Muszę przyznać, że materiał ten umyka jakoś zbyt szybko, a ja ciągle chcę go słuchać. ‘A Sigh from Below’ to album dla maniaków klasycznego death metalu. Z pewnością wpadnie w niejedno metalowe ucho. Polecam.
