NARZUG is a Ukrainian one-man project with Orlokdush at the helm. Musically, what we get here is primitive music stuck in the convention of Black Metal, which brings to mind associations with demo reh tapes from the ’90s. The material was released by Poland’s Wolfspell Records on CD and cassette version.
The big advantage of the material is probably its authentic sound. It’s raw, but despite this, there’s space in it and each instrument finds a place for itself here. The work of the guitars is banal, simple to the point of pain, and in addition, not once and not twice, we will hear stumbles in the playing. This gives a pleasant atmosphere, a kind of truthfulness and not looking for its place by force among more musically advanced bands. As for me, this is no shame, and Black Metal presented by the Ukrainian defends itself. Its low technical value does not detract anything from how the whole of 'Flaming Torches in the Dusk’ turned out in the final phase. The acoustic guitar parts that appeared also accomplished what they were supposed to accomplish, which was to further emphasize the excellent atmosphere of the recording. Another very important thing is the addition of keyboard instrument parts. These take NARZUG’s music to a completely different level. From simple rawness we are transferred to majestic musical landscapes, full of melancholy, sublime aura, mountain and forest stretches covered with a thick layer of snow or even vampiric romanticism appearing in a dark, abandoned and forgotten castle. We should also mention the great intro 'Twilight’ and outro 'Dawn’ done in Dungeon Synth style. The sombre, darkness of the night, the coldness and beauty of the majesty of the same were enchanted in the sounds of the two tracks. The vocals, which have an obligatory screeching manner, were also interesting, but the way they are articulated is somehow less obvious. This, however, you must listen to for yourself. The downside, of course, is the drum machine, but, well, you can turn a blind eye to it. Already after the second or third listening it does not glaring so much and even begins to fit.
Check out this material. It’s definitely not for everyone, as I realize, as probably does the publisher, that this music will not reach the crowds. However, it’s good enough that raw music lovers will reach for it without hesitation, and people outside the circle can check it out and get into it. I personally recommend doing so.

NARZUG to ukraiński projekt jednoosobowy, za sterami którego stoi Orlokdush. Muzycznie otrzymamy tutaj prymitywną muzykę urzymaną w konwencji Black Metalu, która przywodzi na myśl skojarzenia z taśmami demo reh z lat ‘90-tych. Materiał został wydany przez polską Wolfspell Records na CD i wersji kasetowej.
Duża zaletą materiału jest zapewne jego autentyczne brzmienie. Jest surowe, ale mimo tego, jest w nim przestrzeń i każdy z instrumentów znajduje tu miejsce dla siebie. Praca gitar jest banalna, prosta to bólu i na dodatek nie raz i nie dwa razy, usłyszymy potknięcia w grze. Nadaje to przyjemnego klimatu, swego rodzaju prawdziwości i nie szukania na siłę swojego miejsca wśród bardziej zaawansowanych muzycznie zespołów. Jak dla mnie żaden to wstyd, a Black Metal zaprezentowany przez Ukraińca broni się sam. Jego niska wartość pod kątem technicznym nie umniejsza nic a nic temu, jak w końcowej fazie wypadł całokształt ‘Flaming Torches in the Dusk’. Pojawiające się partie gitary akustycznej również dokonały tego, co miały dokonać, a mianowicie jeszcze bardziej uwypukliły doskonały klimat nagrania. Kolejną bardzo ważną sprawą jest dodanie partii instrumentów klawiszowych. Te przenoszą muzykę NARZUG na zupełnie inny poziom. Z prostej surozwizny zostajemy przeniesieni na majestatyczne muzyczne pejzaże, pełne melancholii, wzniosłej aury, pokrytych grubą warstwą śniegu górskich i leśnych połaci czy nawet wampirycznego romantyzmu jawiącego się w mrocznym, opuszczonym i zapomnianym zamczysku. Należy też wspomnieć o świetnym intrze ‘Twilight’ oraz outrze ‘Dawn’ wykonanych w stylistyce Dungeon Synth. Mrok, ciemności nocy, chłód i piękno majestatu tychże, zostały zaklęte w dźwiękach dwóch utworów. Ciekawie wypadły też wokale, które mają obowiązkowo skrzeczącą manierę, ale sposób ich artykułowania jest już jakby mniej oczywisty. Tego jednak, musicie posłuchać sami. Minusem jest oczywiście, automat perkusyjny, ale cóż, można na to przymknąć ucho. Już po drugim lub trzecim przesłuchaniu nie razi tak bardzo i zaczyna nawet pasować.
Sprawdźcie ten materiał. Nie jest to zdecydowanie dla wszystkich, bo zdaję sobie sprawę, tak jak i zapewne wydawca, że ta muzyka nie trafi do tłumów. Jednakże, jest ona na tyle dobra, że odbiorcy surowizny po nią sięgną bez wahania, a ludzie spoza kręgu mogą ją sprawdzić i się do niej przekonać. Osobiści polecam tak zrobić.
