NOCTURNAL SORCERY to zespół pochodzący z Finlandii. Muzyka, jaką kreują to black metal, a sam początek aktywnośi kapeli przypada na 2011 rok. Od tamtej pory Finowie nagrali dwa albumy i kilka mniejszych wydawnictw – w tym split z Daemonlust. 'Captive in the Breath of Life’ to ich drugi długogrający materiał, który ukazał się w lutym tego roku pod skrzydłami fińskiej wytwórni Kvlt.
Po nieco zamulającym wstępie muzyka przechodzi do wściekłego black metalowego grania, co od razu ożywia i zmusza to wytężenia zmysłu słuchu. Chociaż nie jest to materiał odkrywczy, to jest świetnie skomponowany i wyprodukowany. Ciężko oderwać się od tej złowieszczej atmosfery. Na krążku znajdziemy jedenaście utworów, o łącznym czasie wynoszącym blisko czterdzieści dziewięć minut. Bardzo podobają mi się te szybkie, zdecydowane tempa i ubogość melodii, co sprawia, że dzieło to jest jeszcze bardziej ekstremalne. Muzycznie czasami zalatuje mi to Satanic Warmaster ale przeważają własne, autorskie pomysły na czarną sztukę. Riffy gitar utrzymane są w sekcji tremolo, pojawiają się również proste partie solowe, które zdecydowanie nie wnoszą dodatkowej melodii, a dokładają jeszcze większej dawki chaosu. Usłyszymy również instrumenty klawiszowe, które robią świetną robotę, wypełniając tło, a przy tym podnoszą mroczną atmosferę. Perkusja szybka i wysunięta dość mocno od przodu wzmacnia dynamikę i uwalnia mnóstwo agresji. Wokale to głośne skrzekliwe krzyki, które nie jednemu słuchaczowi przypadną do gustu. Na krążku, prócz gitarowego łojenia znajdziemy trochę muzyki uciekającej w dark ambientowe klimaty. Jeżeli taki zabieg miał wywołać zmęczenie u słuchacza to wyszedł doskonale. Sprawdźcie na własną rękę.

NOCTURNAL SORCERY is a band hailing from Finland. The music they create is black metal, and the very beginning of the band’s activity dates back to 2011. Since then, the Finns have recorded two albums and several smaller releases – including a split with Daemonlust. 'Captive in the Breath of Life’ is their second full-length, which was released in February this year under the wings of Finnish label Kvlt.
After a somewhat boring introduction, the music shifts to furious black metal playing, which is immediately invigorating and forces you to strain your sense of hearing. Although not revelatory, the material is superbly composed and produced. It’s hard to tear yourself away from this sinister atmosphere. The album features eleven tracks, with a total time of nearly forty-nine minutes. I really like the fast, determined tempos and the abundance of melodies, which makes this work even more extreme. Musically, it sometimes oozes Satanic Warmaster to me but the band’s own original ideas of black art prevail. Guitar riffs are kept in a tremolo section, and simple solo parts also appear, which definitely do not bring additional melody, but add even more chaos. We’ll also hear keyboards, which do a great job of filling in the background while adding to the dark atmosphere. The drums, which are fast and come quite far from the front, enhance the dynamics and unleash plenty of aggression. The vocals are loud screeching screams, which will appeal to more than one listener. On the album, in addition to the guitar pounding we find some music escaping into dark ambient atmosphere. If such a treatment was to induce tirelessness in the listener, it came out perfectly. Check it out for yourself.
