NECROTIC OOZE to nowy projekt w podziemiu, chociaż ludzie go tworzący, doświadczenie mają. Wystarczy wymienić takie zespoły jak Stench of Decay czy Ascended i kilku z was powinna się lampka zapalić. Czternaście minut iście fińskiego Death Metalu z elementami Doom z jakże fantastycznym brzmieniem! Coś mi mówi, że ten zespół może bardzo, ale to bardzo namieszać w przyszłości, bo ‘Demo’ jest materiałem, jakiego można słuchać bez przerwy. Niskie brzmienie, które idealnie pasuje do generowanego obrazu horroru, jest imponujące. Ciężar, chora atmosfera, w której oczami wyobraźni człowiek widzi otwierające się grobowce i wypełzające z nich trupy. A wszystko to utrzymane w wizji starego, klasycznego kina, tak jak i sama muzyka Finów.
Utwory mają kilka zrywów w kierunku blastujących partii, ale w głównej mierze, zderzymy się tutaj z średnimi prędkościami i wolniejszymi. Te, w których wybrzmiewają gitary prowadzące, to tak wyśmienite nawiązania do klasyków jak Demigod, Purtenance, Funebre czy Adramelech, że szczęka mi opadła i do teraz jej szukam. Zresztą, nie tylko w tych momentach. Te czternaście minut to elementarz jak grać Death Metal spod znaku starej szkoły rodem z Finlandii.
Materiał jest bardzo chwytliwy, ale jednocześnie w żaden sposób nie został uładzony, czy też zaaranżowany by chwytał przeciętnego słuchacza muzyki metalowej za jaja. Wydaje mi się, że muzycy skupili się na bardzo wąskiej niszy, która i owszem, obecnie przeżywa swój rozkwit, ale to i tak bardzo hermetyczne granie dla określonej publiki. Ciężar, świetny old school, smolisto-grobowe brzmienie, proste, ale jak zapadające w pamięć i efektywne riffy. Wokale, no tutaj to jest arcy wybornie! Growle bliskie bulgoczącej manierze jak Demilich, pełne choroby i głębokie jak sama studnia piekieł.
Czternaście minut, trzy utwory i intro, format kasety – przypomina wam to coś? Dokładnie, początek lat ‘90-tych. Wszystko się zgadza i jeśli ten materiał nie zachęci was do zakupu decka mangetofonowego (jeśli jeszcze takowego nie macie), to nie wiem co by mogło to zrobić. Absolutny mus!

NECROTIC OOZE is a new project in the underground, although the people behind it, have experience. Just to mention bands like Stench of Decay or Ascended and a few of you should have a light on. Anyway, the Finns’ debut demo is three tracks plus an intro, which was released on cassette by Iron Corpse, also from Finland.
Fourteen minutes of truly Finnish Death Metal with Doom elements with what a fantastic sound! Something tells me that this band can really, really stir things up in the future, because 'Demo’ is the kind of material you can listen to over and over again. The low-key sound, which fits perfectly with the horror image generated, is impressive. The heaviness, the sick atmosphere, in which with the eyes of the imagination one sees tombs opening and corpses crawling out of them. And all this is maintained in the vision of old, classic cinema, just like the music of the Finns themselves.
The tracks have a few spurts towards blasting parts, but in the main, we’ll collide here with medium speeds and slower ones. Those in which the lead guitars ring out are such delicious references to classics like Demigod, Purtenance, Funebre and Adramelech that my jaw dropped and I’m still looking for it now. Anyway, it’s not only in those moments. These fourteen minutes are a primer on how to play Death Metal from the mark of the old school native of Finland.
The material is very catchy, but at the same time it has in no way been pared down or arranged to grab the average metal music listener by the balls. It seems to me that the musicians have focused on a very narrow niche, which, yes, is currently booming, but it’s still very hermetic playing for a specific audience. Heaviness, great old school, tar-grave sound, simple, but like memorable and effective riffs. Vocals, well here it is arcy excellent! Growls close to gurgling manner as Demilich, full of disease and deep as the well of hell itself.
Fourteen minutes, three tracks and an intro, cassette format – reminds you of something? Exactly, the early ’90s. It all adds up, and if this material doesn’t encourage you to buy a cassette deck (if you don’t already have one), I don’t know what could. An absolute must-have!
