Pod koniec września zeszłego roku ukazał się debiutancki album BLACKENED TEMPLE – nowotarskiego duetu, który porusza klimaty black / death metalowe. Ów album ukazał się pod banderą rodzimej wytwórni Werewolf Promotion. Zespół tworzą Darkness (odpowiedzialny za wszystkie instrumenty) oraz Valr, który zajmuje się wokalem. Blackened Temple powstał w 2017 roku, co dość mocno mnie zaskoczyło, że wcześniej nie wydali żadnego materiału. Z ciekawostek, jakie udało się znaleźć w insertach płyty jest to, że wokale nagrano i zmiksowano w Chicago na przełomie 2021-2022. Jak brzmi album? Przekonamy się za chwilę w poniższej części recenzji.
Na debiutanckim krążku grupy znajdziemy osiem utworów, których łączny czas trwania przekracza trzydzieści dziewięć minut. To, co wydobywa się z głośników to plugawa mieszanka death i black metalu z mocnym naciskiem na ten drugi gatunek. Muzyka jest utrzymana w dość szybkich tempach, jednak nie brakuje tu zwolnień, które zdecydowanie lepiej do mnie dotarły niż szybsze, blastujące numery. Produkcja jest na wysokim poziomie i słychać tu wszystkie uderzenia w struny. Tak samo perkusja nie jest zagłuszona. Miksowanie dźwięków wyszło znakomicie. Warsztat muzyczny również reprezentuje wysokie umiejętności, ponieważ zarówno Valr, jak i Darkness znani są z udziału w innych zespołach. Co do riffów to mamy tu sporo chwytliwych melodii wykonanych w tremolo, natomiast akordy potrafią dołożyć kilka ton ciężaru. Wszystko oscyluje wokół bardzo mrocznego spektrum, pełnego niepokoju. Gitara basowa jest wyraźna i poprawia dynamikę kompozycji. Jeżeli chodzi o perkusję, to tak jak wspomniałem już wcześniej, bardzo mi pasuje ta w nieco wolniejszych tempach, no ale nie ma co marudzić, bo w końcu jest to black death metalowy wpierdol. Wokale brzmią bardzo mięsiste, szybkie i pełne jadu. Wolałbym usłyszeć je w nieco niższym tonie, ale i tak wyszło całkiem dobrze. W końcu to jest debiut i za jakiś czas jeszcze wiele może się zmienić… Polecam zapoznać się z tym materiałem.

Late last September saw the release of the debut album by BLACKENED TEMPLE, a New York-based duo that explores black / death metal music. This album was released under the flag of their Polish label Werewolf Promotion. The band is formed by Darkness (responsible for all instruments) and Valr, who handles vocals. Blackened Temple was formed in 2017, which quite surprised me that they had not released any material before. Among the interesting facts found in the album inserts is that the vocals were recorded and mixed in Chicago in 2021-2022. How does the album sound? We’ll find out in a moment in the review section below.
The group’s debut album features eight tracks, whose total duration exceeds thirty-nine minutes. What comes out of the speakers is a foul mixture of death and black metal with a strong emphasis on the latter genre. The music is kept at fairly fast tempos, nevertheless there is no shortage of slowdowns, which definitely reached me better than the faster, blasting tracks. The production is of a high standard and you can hear all the strikes on the strings here. Likewise, the percussion is not drowned out. The mixing of sounds came out excellent. The musical workshop also represents high skill, as both Valr and Darkness are known for their participation in other bands. As for the riffs, there are a lot of catchy melodies performed in tremolo, while the chords can add a few tons of weight. Everything oscillates around a very dark spectrum, full of anxiety. The bass guitar is clear and improves the dynamics of the composition. As for the drums, as I mentioned earlier, I’m very fond of the one in slightly slower tempos, but there’s nothing to whine about, because, after all, this is a black death metal fuck-up. The vocals sound very meaty, fast and full of venom. I would have preferred to hear them in a slightly lower tone, but it still came out quite well. After all, this is a debut and a lot can still change in a while… I recommend getting acquainted with this material.
