Bardzo miło wspominam ostatni album STWORZ, dlatego z chęcią chwyciłem za ich nową kompilację. Wielkie było moje zdziwienie gdy zobaczyłem, że materiał składa się z dwóch krążków CD. Nie zniechęciło mnie to absolutnie to wzięcia się za słuchanie. Co do samej formacji, to na pewno większość fanów pagan black metalu zna tę projekt, ale tradycyjnie rzucę kilka słów na jego temat. STWORZ funkcjonuje od 2007 roku i od tamtej pory wydał sześć albumów i dość sporo mniejszych wydawnictw. Projekt ten tworzy W, znany między innymi z Kres, czy Wędrujący Wiatr.

‘Ziemia śmiercią śpiewa’ to materiał kompilacyjny godny uwagi, ponieważ skupia w sobie parę niepublikowanych utworów oraz alternatywnych wersji, znajdziemy tu również kilka coverów. Krążek został wydany dla upamiętnienia piętnastu lat istnienia zespołu. To co rzuca się w oczy, to podział płyty na cztery części: ‘Miecz’, ‘Pieśń’, ‘Obiata’, ‘Pług’. Muzycznie znajdziemy tu pagan black metal, całkiem sporo atmosferycznego grania, jak również folkowe klimaty, które brzmią tu bardzo ładnie. Oprócz tego, na tej płycie znajdziemy kilka numerów akustycznych. Materiał nie należy do krótkich. Składa się on z dwudziestu dwóch utworów, o łącznym czasie trwania wynoszącym ponad dwie godziny. Mamy tu sporą dawkę chwytliwych melodii, gitary elektryczne z niezbyt mocno przesterowanym efektem są świetnie słyszalne. Najbardziej zaskoczyło mnie to, jak porwała mnie akustyczna część tego materiału. Piękne i wolne akordy trafiają w sam środek mojej duszy. Na co dzień oczywiście uwielbiam brudne, obskurne riffy, a tu nagle gitara akustyczna zabrzmiała tak, że aż chce się jej słuchać jeszcze więcej i nawet odnoszę wrażenie, że te dwie godziny muzyki to jest nic, bo te akordy zapadły w mojej pamięci i nie chcą jej opuścić. Bas i perkusja są najbardziej wyraźne w utworach wykonanych nieakustycznie. Bębny brzmią perfekcyjnie i doskonale poprawiają dynamikę utworów, że nie jeden słuchacz potupie nogą w ich rytm. Mamy tu również klawisze wypełniające tło i mroczny wokal, przypominający nieco krzyczący growling, który w niektórych utworach zamienia się w czysty, ale nie pozbawiony mocy i ognia głos. Jest w nim zarówno mrok, jak i melodia. Na taką kompilację właśnie czekałem. Polecam zapoznać się z tym tytułem.

I have very fond memories of the last STWORZ album, so I was eager to grab their new compilation. Great was my surprise when I saw that the material consists of two CDs. This absolutely did not discourage me from taking a listen. As for the formation itself, I’m sure most fans of pagan black metal are familiar with this project, but traditionally I’ll throw in a few words about it. STWORZ has been around since 2007 and has since released six albums and quite a few smaller releases. The project is formed by W, known for Kres, or Wędrujący Wiatr, among others.

’Ziemia śmiercią śpiewa’ is compilation material worthy of attention, as it brings together a couple of unreleased tracks and alternative versions, and there are also a few covers. The disc was released to commemorate fifteen years of the band’s existence. What is striking is the division of the album into four parts: ‘Miecz’, ‘Pieśń’, ‘Obiata’, ‘Pług’. Musically, you will find pagan black metal, quite a lot of atmospheric playing, as well as folk atmospheres, which sound very nice here. In addition, there are several acoustic tracks on this album. The material is not one of the short ones. It consists of twenty-two songs, with a total duration of more than two hours. Here we have a good dose of catchy melodies, electric guitars with not too much distortion are well heard. What surprised me the most was how the acoustic part of this material grabbed me. Beautiful and slow chords hit the very center of my soul. On a daily basis, of course, I love dirty, slurring riffs, and here, all of a sudden, the acoustic guitar sounded in such a way that makes you want to listen to it even more, and I even get the impression that these two hours of music are nothing, because these chords have sunk into my memory and don’t want to leave it. The bass and percussion are most pronounced in tracks performed non-acoustically. The drums sound perfect and perfectly improve the dynamics of the tracks that not one listener will stomp his foot to their rhythm. We also have keyboards filling in the background and dark vocals, somewhat reminiscent of screaming growling, which in some tracks turns into a clear but not powerless and fiery voice. There is both darkness and melody in it. The good stuff.
