Debiutancka EPka SPIRITU MORS, australijskiego projektu, ukazała się w 2022 roku sygnowana logiem Under the Sign of Garazel Productions. Dwa utwory zamykające się w niecałych osiemnastu minutach dostarczają nam dźwięków w formie Black Metalu. Zacznę od stwierdzenia, że jest to naprawdę mocny materiał i liczę na to, że zespół będzie kontynuował funkcjonowanie i wydawanie kolejnych nagrań. Co zatem tutaj otrzymujemy? Jak zostało wspomniane – Black Metal w formie podziemnej, ale utrzymanej z dala od minimalistycznego podejścia. Oba utwory są rozbudowane, bogate w ciekawe rozwiązania, a mimo to szkielet kompozycji jest utrzymany w tradycyjnej formie. Budowana jest tu aura tajemniczości, owiana zimną podniosłością. Za taki obrót spraw kredyt należy się instrumentom klawiszowym, które w tle idealnie tworzą ową atmosferę rozpraszając ją nad trwaniem „Exsilium” niczym gęstą mgłę. Przechodząc dalej należy podkreślić bardzo dobre brzmienie całej EPki. Mimo bardzo wyraźnej selektywności instrumentów, materiał zachował wiele ze swojej agresji i dzikości. Omówienie wokali chciałem jak zawsze pozostawić na sam koniec. Ich aranże oraz wykonanie to istna wisienka na torcie, niemiłosiernie dobra robota. Korelacja pomiędzy gardłowymi wokalizami, które notabene nie są aż tak typowe dla Black Metalu pozostają w formie bardziej wykrzyczanej, a czystymi melodeklamacjami to totalna dyktatura dla moich zmysłów. Od tego nie da się uwolnić, opętania jakie się wydobywa z gardła wokalisty. Gitary bardzo dobrze operują pomiędzy melodyjnością a charakterystyczną grą akordami. „Exsilium” oferuje nam prędkości środka, w tej materii wiele się nie dzieje. Dzięki temu dwa utwory z EPki sa bardzo spójne, nie odbiegają od siebie zamysłem i wykonaniem. Sprawdźcie ten materiał, szczerze warto.

The debut EP from SPIRITU MORS, an Australian project, was released in 2022 signed under the logo of Under the Sign of Garazel Productions. Two tracks closing in at just under eighteen minutes provide us with sounds in the form of Black Metal. Let me start by saying that this is really strong material and I hope that the band will continue to function and release more recordings. So, what do we get here? As mentioned – Black Metal in underground form, but kept away from the minimalist approach. Both tracks are developed, rich in interesting solutions, and yet the skeleton of the composition is kept in the traditional form. An aura of mystery is being built here, shrouded in a cold solemnity. For such a turn of events we can give credit to the keyboard instruments, which in the background perfectly diffuse this atmosphere over the duration of „Exsilium” like a thick fog. Moving on, we should emphasize the very good sound of the whole EP. Despite the very clear selectivity of the instruments, the material retained much of its aggression and ferocity. I wanted to leave the discussion of the vocals to the very end, as always. Unfortunately, their arrangements and performance are a veritable cherry on the cake, a mercilessly good job. The correlation between the throaty vocalizations, which, by the way, are not so typical of Black Metal remain in a more shouted form and the pure melodeclamations is a total dictatorship to my senses. It’s impossible to get away from this, from the possession that comes out of the vocalist’s throat. The guitars operate very well between melodiousness and distinctive chord playing. „Exsilium” offers us the speed of the middle, in this matter not much happens. Thanks to this, the two tracks of the EP are very consistent, they do not differ from each other in concept and performance. Check out this material, it’s honestly worth it.
