Finów z URN nie trzeba nikomu przedstawiać. Kolejny raz znajdujemy się zatem w Finlandii, tym razem jednak, w mniej atmosferycznym czy surowym graniem. Ci barbarzyńcy, nieugięcie dowodzeni latami od 1994 roku przez Sulphur’a, grają uderzającą miksturę Black / Thrash Metalu. Obecnie ich muzyka jest zdecydowanie bardziej okrzesana, ma lepsze brzmienie. Czy to lepiej? To już niech każdy sam sobie oceni. Osobiście wchodzi mi to zupełnie bez popity, a urządzając sobie maraton z ich pięcioma albumami – wszystko układa się w logiczną całość. Rozwój na jaki postawili (chociaż nie wiem czy to odpowiednie słowo, bo odnoszę wrażenie, że sięgają w aranżacjach coraz dalej w przeszłość), sprawdza się i dobrze uderza w potylicę. Szkoda jedynie, że pomiędzy trzecim a czwartym albumem jest przerwa aż 9 lat. Trudno, skoro przeczekaliśmy, należy teraz świętować z „Iron Will to Power”.

I tak jak do roku 2008, czyli do czasu wydania trzeciego albumu „Soul Destroyers” URN stawiał na granie bardziej surowe z wyraźnie chamskim brzmieniem, tak obecnie hołdują w swojej muzyce legendom Metalu. Odnajdziemy tu echa nawet Motorhead, starego Slayer, ale kierunek w którym Finowie zmierzają stał się bardzo bliski temu co obecnie prezentuje Destroyer 666. Trudno mi się wypowiedzieć czy to zamierzony wybór czy też po prostu tak się stało w procesie twórczym. Co by jednak nie było powodem, należy zaznaczyć, że zespół odwala kawał zajebistej roboty! Zacznijmy od tego, że pomimo siły rażenia „Iron Will to Power” to materiał ten jest iści przebojowy. W Każdym utworze znajdziemy chwytliwe patenty, które czy tego chcecie czy nie, nawiązują do Heavy Metalu. I chyba tak to już będzie z Finami, że w ich muzyce będzie coraz więcej tej stylistyki niż Thrashu z prawdziwego zdarzenia. Nie oznacza to jednak, że chłopaki zupełnie już z motoryki i agresji Thrashu zrezygnowali, nic z tych rzeczy! Nadal w każdym z utworów słychać ten pędzący naprzód silnik, który pcha załogę z potężną siłą rażenia do przodu. Świetnym zabiegiem są gitary akustyczne i bez przesterów pojawiające się w kilku partiach materiału. A te, które otwierają album… FUKK!!! Mistrzostwo!!! Muzyka jest mocno intensywna, naszpikowana old schoolem, który aż kipi wyczekując swojej chwili by przywalić w pysk! Przez całą długość trwania materiału mamy do czynienia ze świetnymi wokalami – mieszają w sobie barwy Heavy i Blacku. Materiał naprawdę robi wrażenie!!! Pojawiają się elementy podniosłe, pełne zarówno patosu jak i pewnej nostalgii. Ot, wspomniana przebojowość.

Ci z Was, którzy cenili sobie surowość poprzednich nagrań, bezpośredniość i chamstwo, mogę podetrzeć łezkę w oku. URN, anno bastardi 2019, to Black / Thrash / Heavy ukłon ku mistrzom, legendom tejże muzyki. A jeśli lubicie ostatnie dokonania Destroyer 666, to tym bardziej ta muzyka jest dla Was priorytetem do nabycia.

The Finns from URN need no introduction to anyone. So once again we find ourselves in Finland, this time, however, with less atmospheric or raw playing. These barbarians, relentlessly led for years since 1994 by Sulphur, play a striking concoction of Black / Thrash Metal. Nowadays, their music is definitely edgier, with a better sound. Is it better? That’s for everyone to judge for themselves. Personally, it enters me completely without a sweat, and arranging myself a marathon with their five albums – everything falls into a logical whole. The development they’ve set their sights on (although I don’t know if that’s the right word, because I get the impression that they’re reaching farther and farther into the past in the arrangements), works and hits the bullseye well. It’s just a shame that there’s a gap of as much as nine years between the third and fourth albums. Alas, since we have waited, one should now celebrate with „Iron Will to Power.”

And just as up until 2008, that is, until the release of the third album „Soul Destroyers,” URN was betting on playing more raw with a distinctly boorish sound, so now they are paying tribute to Metal legends in their music. We can find here echoes of even Motorhead, the old Slayer, but the direction in which the Finns are heading has become very close to what Destroyer 666 is currently presenting. It’s hard for me to say whether this is a deliberate choice or it just happened that way in the creative process. Whatever the reason, nevertheless, it should be noted that the band is doing an awesome job! Let’s start with the fact that, despite the raucous power of „Iron Will to Power,” the material is nothing short of a hit. Every song features catchy patches that, whether you want them to or not, allude to Heavy Metal. And I guess that’s the way it’s going to be with the Finns, that there will be more and more of this style in their music than real Thrash. However, this does not mean, that the guys have already completely given up on the Thrash motorics and aggression, nothing of the sort! You can still hear in each of the songs that surging engine that pushes the crew forward with a powerful thrash force. A great touch is the acoustic and distortion-free guitars that appear in several parts of the material. And the ones that open the album…. FUKK!!! Masterpiece!!! The music is strongly intense, saturated with old school, which is boiling all the way waiting for its moment to knock you in the mouth! Throughout the entire length of the material we have to deal with great vocals – they mix the colors of Heavy and Black. The material is really impressive!!! There are solemn elements, full of both pathos and a certain nostalgia.

Those of you who appreciated the rawness of previous recordings, directness and rudeness, you can wipe a tear in your eye. URN, anno bastardi 2019, is a Black / Thrash / Heavy nod to the masters, the legends of this music. And if you like the recent achievements of Destroyer 666, then all the more this music is a priority for you to purchase.
