THROMOS to niemiecka horda, która działa w podziemiu od 2004 roku. „Thromosphäre” to ich dziesiąty album, a na koniec tego roku jest już zapowiedziany kolejny, jedenasty, o wymownym tytule „Satan”. Obecnie funkcjonują jako duet, ale bywały momenty na początku żywota tegoż tworu, gdy skład miał pięciu członków. Z tamtego składu do zostali jedynie dwaj: Nissen (perkusja) i Mortifer Daemon (gitara, bas, wokale). Niemcy poruszają się w stylistyce zimnego, surowego Black Metalu. Zero ozdobników czy kobiecych jęków uznawanych przez niektórych za wokale. Zainteresowani? Poniżej trochę szczegółów.

Ciężko znaleźć jakieś informacje na temat tej hordy, albowiem w sieci nie ma ich żadnego oficjalnego profilu / strony. We wkładkach albumów żadnych maili kontaktowych. Zapewne można takowy zdobyć od wydawcy płyty, ale zmierzam do tego, że THROMOS ma kompletnie wywalone na bycie częścią sceny czy jakimkolwiek parciem związanym z promocją. Robią muzykę, czarcią i prymitywną sztukę – tu się ich rola kończy. Według mnie, postawa godna pochwały, bo czyż nie na tym polega podziemie? By szukać wyklętych od światła dziennego perełek jak właśnie THROMOS? Według mnie świadczy to jeszcze o autentyczności i szczerym podejściu twórcy, który skupia się na muzyce, a ewentualne pozyskiwanie grona odbiorców pozostawia wytwórni. Cóż, nie każdy musi się z tym zgodzić, ale tak to widzę. Przechodząc jednak do samej muzyki, tak jak już wspomniałem, THROMOS gra zimny i surowy Black Metal. Żadnej absolutnie finezji, a wszystko co aranżacyjnie usłyszymy możemy włożyć do jednej szuflady z etykietą „utarte ścieżki Black Metalu”. Nie ma tutaj mowy o najmniejszym innowacyjności, o wymyślaniu lub łączeniu się stylistyk. Nie! Ma być surowo, z dozą melodyki gitar i tyle. Melodyjność riffów przywodzi mi trochę skojarzenia z wczesną twórczością Horna, tudzież ogólnie naleciałościami sceny fińskiej. Jednakże, nie sugerujcie się być może mylnym rozumieniem, że owa melodyjność towarzyszy nam przez prawie godzinę trwania albumu. Rzekłbym, że jest raczej wyważona pomiędzy surowością a takowymi patentami. Kolejny, olbrzymi plus to świetne brzmienie perkusji – naturalne, niemal jak z sali prób. Dodaje to niesamowitego uroku albumowi, o ile można użyć takiego słowa. Lodowate, mrożące krew w żyłach wokale od krzyków po sporadycznie pojawiające się growle, wyciągają głębię zawartą na „Thromosphäre”. Kompozycyjnie, rzekomo może się tu wiele nie dziać, jednak muszę przyznać, że przepastne ciemności jakie wykreowała horda muzyką, porwały mnie bez końca. A przy okazji mówiąc, to nie pamiętam by ta horda miała słabsze wydawnictwa na swoim koncie.

THROMOS i ich dziesiąty album to naprawdę konkretny Black Metal. Podczas ciągłego zalewu plastikowymi produkcjami nie tylko w Black Metalu, taka muzyka to idealne lekarstwo na studyjne profanacje. Żyjąc w czasach digitalizacji, ciągłych nowinek technicznych i możliwości rejestracji dźwięku, nie należy ślepo za nimi podążać, chociaż mogłoby sie wydawać zgoła inaczej. Przynajmniej ja tak uważam. Każdy pięknie obrobiony cyfrowo dźwięk nie zastąpi jego prawdziwego brzmienia. Może być alternatywą, owszem, ale nie stałym zamiennikiem. THROMOS i ich oblicze pełne chłodu są tego bardzo dobrym przykładem.

THROMOS is a German horde that has been active in the underground since 2004. „Thromosphäre” is their tenth album. They currently function as a duo, but there were times at the beginning of the life of this creation, when the lineup had five members. From that lineup only two remain: Nissen (drums) and Mortifer Daemon (guitar, bass, vocals). The Germans move in the style of cold, raw Black Metal. Zero ornamentation or female whining considered by some to be vocals. Interested? Here are some details.

It’s hard to find any information on this horde, for there is no official profile/website for them online. In the album inserts no contact emails. You can probably get one from the publisher of the album, but what I’m getting at is that THROMOS completely blows off being part of the scene or any push related to promotion. They make music, black and primitive art – that’s where their role ends. In my opinion, a commendable attitude, because isn’t that what the underground is all about? To seek out gems cursed from the light of day like THROMOS just did? In my opinion, it still proves the authenticity and sincere approach of the creator, who focuses on the music and leaves the possible acquisition of an audience to the label. Well, not everyone has to agree with that, but that’s how I see it. Nevertheless, moving on to the music itself, as I already mentioned, THROMOS plays cold and raw Black Metal. Absolutely no finesse, and everything we hear arrangement-wise we can put into one drawer with the label „the established paths of Black Metal.” There is no question of the slightest innovation here, of inventing or combining styles. No, it’s supposed to be raw, with a dose of melodic guitars and that’s it. The melodiousness of the riffs brings me a bit of an association with Horna’s early work, or with the Finnish scene in general. However, do not be misled into thinking that this melodiousness accompanies us for almost an hour of the album. I would say that it is rather balanced between rawness and such patents. Another huge plus is the great sound of the drums – natural, almost as if from a rehearsal room. It adds an incredible charm to the album, if one can use such a word. Icy, chilling vocals ranging from screams to occasional growls draw out the depth contained on „Thromosphäre.” Compositionally, supposedly, there may not be much going on here, yet I must admit that the precipitous darkness the horde created with the music gripped me endlessly. And by the way, speaking of which, I don’t remember this horde having weaker releases to their credit.

THROMOS and their tenth album is really definite Black Metal. During the constant deluge of plastic productions not only in Black Metal, such music is the perfect cure for studio profanities. Living in the era of digitalization, constant technical innovations and sound recording possibilities, one should not blindly follow them, although it might seem otherwise. At least I think so. Any beautifully digitally processed sound is no substitute for its true sound. It can be an alternative, yes, but not a permanent replacement. THROMOS and their face full of coolness are a very good example of this.
