Francuzi powrócili. Po bardzo udanym debiucie „Sacraments to the Sons of the Abyss” wydanym również przez Iron Bonehead Productions w 2017 roku, tym razem otrzymujemy trzyutworową EPkę trwającą dwadzieścia pięć minut. Trzy potężne utwory, masywne monstra, chorobliwie doskonałe i zarazem odstręczająco ohydne.

RITUALIZATION istnieje na scenie od 2006 roku i nie jest to zespół wyrzucający regularnie kolejne wydawnictwa. Z drugiej strony nie ma potrzeby rwać z tego powodu resztki włosów z głowy (przynajmniej w moim przypadku), ponieważ jakość każdego z wydawnictw pozwala na niekończące się odsłuchy muzyczne. Nie inaczej jest w przypadku „Hema Ignis Necros”, który mnogością pomysłów i zamknięciem ich w trzech utworach trwających raptem dwadzieścia pięć minut, to już samo w sobie duże osiągnięcie. Należy dodać, że pomimo olbrzymiego spektrum aranżacyjnego, materiał jest słuchalny wybornie. Stylistyka Francuzów jest określana jako Blackened Death Metal i nie można z tym polemizować, aczkolwiek pojawiają się tu też echa War Metalu. Sam wstęp do otwierającego EPkę „The Shapeless Scepter” posiada ten charakterystyczny element dźwięku wydawany przez gitarę podczas ślizgania kostki przez długość struny. Być może wyolbrzymiam, bo to mini detal, ale tak mi się skojarzyło. Brzmienie „Hema Ignis Necros” jest masywne, ciężkie, posiada faktor gruzu z tą różnicą, że nie jest przesadzone i nie męczy. Wręcz odwrotnie, materiał z każdym odsłuchem coraz bardziej wciąga, jakby nawoływał słuchacza do odkrywania coraz głębszej ciemności. Muzyka jaką oferuje na najnowszym wydawnictwie RITUALIZATION jest gęsta, chorobliwa i opresyjna. z drugiej strony posiada jednak sporo przestrzeni, jest czytelna dla wprawnego odbiorcy i nie eksploduje w twarz tysiącem pomysłów na sekundę. Owszem, jak wspomniałem, tych pomysłów jest cholernie dużo, jednakże są podane w bardzo zrozumiały sposób. Dzięki temu muzyka nie zamienia się w bezsensowną, techniczną papkę. Czuć tu odór śmierci, która zerka pustymi oczodołami zza każdego z możliwych miejsc. Bardzo trafionym elementem są dodane na zakończenie utworów aranżacje przywołujące na myśl orientalne, kojarzące się jakby nieco ze starożytnym Egiptem tudzież hinduistyczną częścią globu i ich rytuałami związanymi ze śmiercią. Praca gitar to połączenie techniki z dużą ilością gry tremolo i akordami, urywające zmysły solówki – tu się naprawdę wiele dzieje. Niezależnie czy zespół gra wolno czy też pędzi w ultra szybkich partiach, zawsze brzmi to wzorcowo, pełne jadu i wściekłości. Nad wszystkim wisi baner śmierci, zakazanych rytuałów w odległych i zapomnianych katakumbach. Głębokie wokale, growlujące na niskich rejestrach głosu wpasowują się tu idealnie. Perkusja za którą znajduje się Thomas Hennequin znany choćby z dokonań Merrimack i od niedawna będącego perkusistą w Crimson Moon, jest oszałamiająca. Polecam przesłuchać raz ten materiał tylko pod kątem pracy tego instrumentu, a zapewniam, że niejedna osoba się zdziwi. Przechodząc już do podsumowania – „Hema Ignis Necros” jest dwudziestopięcio minutową podróżą w otchłań śmierci, w jej najbardziej czarne zakątki i doświadczenie tegoż pozostaje na długo w świadomości. The Frenchmen are back. After the highly successful debut „Sacraments to the Sons of the Abyss” also released by Iron Bonehead Productions in 2017, this time we get a three-track EP lasting twenty-five minutes. Three powerful tracks, massive monstrosities, morbidly perfect and abjectly hideous at the same time.

RITUALIZATION has been on the scene since 2006, and this is not a band churning out new releases on a regular basis. On the other hand, there is no need to pull the rest of your hair out of your head because of this (at least in my case), as the quality of each release allows for endless musical listening. It is no different in the case of „Hema Ignis Necros,” which, with its multitude of ideas and encapsulation of them in three tracks lasting a mere twenty-five minutes, is a great achievement in itself. It should be added that despite the huge spectrum of arrangements, the material is listenable exquisitely. The Frenchmen’s style is described as Blackened Death Metal, and one can’t argue with that, although there are also echoes of War Metal. The very introduction to the EP’s opener, „The Shapeless Scepter,” has that charateristic element of sound produced by the guitar as it slides its pick through the length of the strings. Perhaps I’m exaggerating because it’s a little detail, but that’s how it came to mind. The sound of the „Hema Ignis Necros” is massive, heavy, and has a debris factor with the difference that it is not exaggerated and does not tire. On the contrary, the material draws the listener in more and more with each listen, as if exhorting the listener to explore deeper and deeper darkness. The music offered on RITUALIZATION’s latest release is dense, morbid and oppressive. Nevertheless, on the other hand, it has a lot of space, is clear to the skilled listener and does not explode in the face with a thousand ideas per second. Yes, as I mentioned, these ideas are a hell of a lot, however, they are given in a very understandable way. As a result, the music doesn’t turn into meaningless, technical mush. You can feel the stench of death peeking out with empty eyes from behind every possible place. A very successful element are the arrangements added at the end of the tracks, which bring to mind the oriental, somewhat reminiscent of ancient Egypt or the Hindu part of the globe and their rituals associated with death. The guitar work is a combination of technique with lots of tremolo and chord playing, mind-blowing solos – there’s really a lot going on here. Whether the band plays slowly or rushes in ultra-fast parts, it always sounds exemplary, full of venom and fury. A banner of death hangs over everything, of forbidden rituals in distant and forgotten catacombs. Deep vocals, growling on the low registers of the voice fit in perfectly here. The drums behind which is Thomas Hennequin, known for his achievements at Merrimack and more recently being the drummer in Crimson Moon, are stunning. I recommend listening to this material once just for the work of this instrument, and I assure you that many people will be surprised. Coming already to the summary – „Hema Ignis Necros” is a twenty-five-minute journey into the abyss of death, into its darkest corners, and the experience of it remains in the consciousness for a long time. I recommend it, it’s worth it.
