Pochodzący z USA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DOPPELAXT najzwyczajniej rozwalił mnie tą kasetą. Jest świeża twarz w Black Metalowym podziemiu, ale członkowie projektu udzielają się również w kilku innych hordach o innym obliczu muzycznym. Goathex, będący czystym War Black / Death Metalowym barbarzyństwem lub Silanthrone grający surowy aczkolwiek melodyjny Black Metal z niesamowitą atmosferą przywodząca na myśl wczesne lata ’90-te. Szybko zaczyna się pojawiać w umyśle bardzo wyraźna sylwetka utworów, charyzmatycznych i przepełnionych kurewsko nienawistną energią. Dodatkowo dochodzą tu fantastyczne partie klawiszy i to od nich zaczniemy chirurgiczną sekcję dema. Linie tego instrumentu na szczęście pojawiają się w niektórych fragmentach utworów, co prawda nawet często, ale jako, że nie są obecne w tle cały czas, robią piorunujące wrażenie. Utwory nabierają jeszcze większej wyrazistości. Mam wrażenie jakbym stał na polu bitwy i właśnie zagrzmiały wojenne hymny zagrzewające do walki o ziemie, które wróg próbuje nam odebrać. Partie gitar są proste, często wchodzące w ‘folkowe’ melodie, być może kojarzące się ze średniowiecznym sznytem. Solowe gitary są utrzymane w podobnej formie. Gitara basowa nader słyszalna idąca łeb w łeb z partiami gitar i wydaje mi się, że bardziej podkreśla grę właśnie samych gitar, a dynamiki utworów wypełza z nich samych, jakby naturalnie. Całkiem dobre zmiany prędkości i definitywnie ultra prosta perkusja. Oczywiście, pojawiają się tu i ówdzie akcenty na poszczególnych blachach, ale w głównej mierze zderzymy się tu z materią której najważniejszą cechą jest prostota. Hailing from the USA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DOPPELAXT most simply blew me away with this cassette. There is a fresh face in the Black Metal underground, but the members of the project are also involved in several other hordes with a different musical face. Goathex being pure War Black / Death Metal barbarism or Silvanthrone playing raw yet melodic Black Metal with an amazing atmosphere reminiscent of the early ’90s. So let’s get to the content of „Blood Memory”, the second demo by the Americans.
The Pagan Black Metal we get on tape from DOPPELAXT is damn good music. The first impression may be a kind of primitivism of the arrangements woven into slightly solemn, interlaced with aggressive parts, compositions. This delusion quickly fades away. A very clear silhouette of the tracks begins to appear in the mind, charismatic and filled with fucking hateful energy. Additionally, there are some fantastic keyboard parts and it is with them that we will start the surgical section of the demo. Luckily, the lines of this instrument appear in some fragments of songs, even often, but as they are not present in the background all the time, they make an electrifying impression. The tracks become even more expressive. I have the impression that I’m standing on the battlefield and the war hymns have just resounded, encouraging to fight for the land that the enemy is trying to take away from us. The guitar parts are simple, often going into 'folk’ melodies, perhaps reminiscent of a medieval groove. The solo guitars are kept in a similar vein. The bass guitar is very audible and goes hand in hand with the guitar parts and it seems to me that it emphasizes the playing of the guitars themselves more and the dynamics of the songs crawls out of them, as if naturally. Quite good speed changes and definitely ultra simple drumming. Of course, there are some accents here and there on particular cymbals, but mainly we’re confronted here with the matter whose most important feature is simplicity. Finally, the vocals, which are an absolute masterpiece. Sure, it’s nothing new in this matter, but the timbre and expressiveness of these is knocking on your knees. A perfect mirage of hate and rage!
The demo has only three tracks of a total duration of fifteen minutes and thus leaves me very hungry for more. Thus, it is looped on the 'reverse’ function and plays in a circle. Truly, 'Blood Memory’ is a gem of Pagan Black Metal.
