Ekipa ta pochodzi z Indonezji i para się Brutal Death Metalem. W podziemiu istnieją nieprzerwanie od, uwaga, 1990 roku. Nie dość, że zespół raczej nie jest bardzo rozpoznawalny na całym globie, to i tak należy się cholerny szacun za taką konsekwencję i nie składanie broni w akcie poddania się. Co prawda, JASAD nie jest specjalnie aktywnym zespołem, bo na trzydzieści dwa lata istnienia mamy raptem jedenaście wydawnictw z czego tylko trzy są albumami.

’5′ to tytuł ostatniej jak do tej pory EPki zespołu. Otrzymaliśmy pięć nowych utworów oraz trzy bonusowe z czego dwa są nagraniem z koncertu. Zacznę od interesującej mnie zawsze sprawy odnośnie sceny w Indonezji. Nie mam pojęcia co charakteryzuje tamte społeczeństwo albo maniaków tworzących taką muzykę, ale kraj ten ma prawdopodobnie niekończące się zasoby w Brutal Death Metalu. I właśnie to ta scena została 'wypromowana’, o ile to właściwe słowo, i dla mnie osobiście Indonezja kojarzyć się będzie na mapie metalowej z tymże gatunkiem poza kilkoma wyjątkami w surowym i lo-fi Black Metalu. Wróćmy jednak do Epki '5′. Pierwsze pięć utworów charakteryzuje się bardzo ciężkim brzmieniem i wysuniętą trochę na przód perkusję – w szczgólności werbel i centralki z obowiązkowymi triggerami. Nie jest zwolennikiem tego zabiegu, ale w przypadku JASAD na szczęście nie usłyszymy produkcji, która , że tak to ujmę, jest ważniejsza od samej muzyki. Nie zderzamy się z tzw. nadprodukcją o której wiele razy wspominałem i jak wiadomo nie jest ona moją bajką. '5′ jest bardzo dobrze wyprodukowany pod względem brzmienia, ale nie przekroczono granicy chirurgicznego nonsensu. Aranżacje same w sobie to najwyższych lotów Brutal DM z całą masą świetnych rozwiązań. Ten zespół juz od pierwszego albumu dał się poznać od strony umiejętnego podejścia do komponowania utworów w których poza oczywistą brutalnością są też elementy melodyjności i wiadomo – ciężaru. Kompozycje te zdają się być bardzo – jakby to nazwać – 'muzyczne’? Tak, to dobre określenie. Techniczne umiejętności tu zaowocowały i to mocno. Świetne riffy, JASAD nie przesadza z ilością zwolnień i wchodzenia w Slam i elementy takie są u nich bardziej przełamaniem zapieprzającej maszyny zabijającej jak zaraza. Wszechobecny bas rozpierdala w pył, a brzmienie i łatwość wychwycenia tego instrumentu też świadczy o dojrzałości rejestrowania tej muzyki. Partie perkusji są mocno zróżnicowane, dzieje się tu naprawdę sporo. Szkoda tylko, że niestety sekcja została położona przez studyjne 'podkręcenie’ i zabicie – co zresztą zawsze powtarzam – ducha muzyki. Owszem, rozumiem dążenie do bycia ultra brutalnym, ale można to zrobić inaczej i mniej nowocześnie korzystając z osiągnięć techniki studyjnej w sposób bardziej rozważny. To jedyne spostrzeżenie, które ciężko określić jako wadą tego materiału, ponieważ jest to wyłącznie kwestia mojego gustu. Wokale to wszelakie growle i obyło się bez świńskich kwików. Naprawdę kawał dobrej roboty.

Sumując ten już nieco przydługi tekst, wsłuchując się w ostatnią EPkę JASAD, wydaje mi się, że '5′ to świadoma kontynuacja ścieżki jaką obrał sobie zespół na samym początku. Raz jeszcze wielki szacunek za to oraz słowa uznania za bardzo dobry materiał. Oby czwarty album był już w drodze.

This band comes from Indonesia and they are into Brutal Death Metal. In the underground they have existed continuously since, attention, 1990. Not enough that the band is rather not very recognizable around the globe, but still you should have a damn respect for such consistency and not laying down arms in the act of giving up. Admittedly, JASAD is not a particularly active band, as for thirty-two years of existence we have only eleven releases out of which only three are albums.

’5′ is the title of the band’s last EP so far. We get five new songs and three bonus tracks, two of which are live recordings. I’ll start with the always interesting thing about the Indonesian scene. I have no idea what characterizes the society there or the maniacs making such music, but the country probably has an endless supply of Brutal Death Metal. And it is this scene that has been 'promoted’, if that’s the right word, and for me personally Indonesia will be associated on the metal map with this genre apart from a few exceptions in raw and lo-fi Black Metal. But let’s get back to EP '5′. The first five tracks are characterized by a very heavy sound and a little bit frontal drums – especially snare drum and central kicks with obligatory triggers. I am not an enthusiast of this treatment, but in the case of JASAD, fortunately, we will not hear the production, which, so to speak, is more important than the music itself. We are not confronted with the so called overproduction which I have mentioned many times and, as you know, is not my cup of tea. '5′ is very well produced in terms of sound, but it does not cross the border of surgical nonsense. The arrangements themselves are top level Brutal DM with a lot of great features. From the very first album the band let themselves be known for their skillful approach to composing songs in which apart from obvious brutality there are also elements of melodiousness and, as we know, heaviness. These compositions seem to be very – how to call it – 'musical’? Yes, it’s a good term. Technical skills came to fruition here and they did. Great riffs, JASAD doesn’t exaggerate with the amount of slowing down and going into the Slam and such elements are more of a change for this fucking killing machine like the plague. The omnipresent bass fucks you into dust and the sound and the ease of hearing this instrument also proves the maturity of recording this music. The drum parts are very diverse, there is a lot going on here. It’s just a pity that, unfortunately, the section was put down by studio processing and killing – which I always say – the spirit of the music. Yes, I understand the desire to be ultra brutal, but it can be done differently and less modern by using the achievements of studio technology in a more thoughtful way. This is the only observation, which is hard to define as a disadvantage of this material, because it is only a matter of my taste. Vocals are all kinds of growls and there are no pigs’ noises. It’s really a piece of good work.

Summing up this already a bit long text, listening to the last JASAD’s EP it seems to me that '5′ is a conscious continuation of the path the band took at the very beginning. Once again, great respect for that and words of praise for a very good material. Let’s hope the fourth album is on its way.
