SEWER FIEND to nowy projekt w podziemnym światku Death Metalu. Dwójka młodych ludzi z Wielkiej Brytanii powołała do zycia paskudny twór, a nazwa zespołu nie mogła być już bardziej adekwatna do zawartości muzycznej. Jednym z członków duetu jest John Riley, znany z takich projektów jak Cryptic Shift czy Slimelord. Jest to pierwsze wydawnictwo zespołu.
„Echoes From the Cistern” to trzy utwory brudnego i old schoolowego Death Metalu. Całość trwa 20 minut bez kilku sekund i naprawdę jest tu czego posłuchać. Pierwszą rzeczą jaka przykuła moją uwagę były gitary o bardzo psychodelicznym wydźwięku, wyłaniające się na czystym kanale pośród regularnego riffu. Ten zabieg jest powtarzany kilka razy i przyznaję, jest to nielicha ozdoba tej EPki. Brzmienie materiału jest niskie, grobowe, po prostu fantastyczne. Ta ohyda sączy się w każdym z utworów i trzeba jeszcze nadmienić, że SEWER FIEND lubują się w ciężkich Doomowych zwolnieniach. Kurwa mać, jak to pięknie niszczy i poniewiera! Mocno skomasowane dźwięki nisoą ze sobą ciężar i absolutny ściek w którym to zespół brodzi po pas. Mozolne rozwijanie pomysłów, wginatające riffy i tak na okrągło, fukkkk!!! Po zwolnieniach następuje marszowe tempo, momentami chłopaki uderzą szybszą partią, jednakże 90% „Echoes From the Cistern” to totalny Death / Doom w swojej najbardziej obrzydliwej formie. Wokale to absolutny sztos! Mam wrażenie jakby Sam Robinson wyrzygiwał własne flaki w jakiejś odosobnionym domu w lesie będąc zamknietym w piwnicy pełnej… ponownie ścieków i wszelakich płynów jakie tylko ludzkie ciało może produkować. Materiał trochę kojarzy mi się z Fińskim Mortiferum, są elementy Grave Miasma, czyli wiecie już czego się spodziewać. Totalnie świetny materiał!

SEWER FIEND is a new project in the underground world of Death Metal. Two young guys from Great Britain have brought to life a nasty creation and the name of the band could not be more adequate to the musical content. One of the duo members is John Riley, known from such projects as Cryptic Shift or Slimelord. This is the band’s first release.
„Echoes From the Cistern” is three tracks of dirty and old school Death Metal. The whole album lasts 20 minutes without a few seconds and there is really something to listen to. The first thing that caught my attention were the guitars with very psychedelic overtones, emerging on a clean channel in the midst of a regular riffs. This treatment is repeated several times and I admit, it is quite an ornament of this EP. The sound of the material is low, tomb-like, simply fantastic. This abomination oozes in each of the tracks and it must be mentioned that SEWER FIEND are fond of heavy Doom slowdowns. Fucking hell, how beautifully it destroys and torments! Heavily accumulated sounds carry weight and an absolute sewage in which the band wades up to its waist. Slow development of ideas, crushing riffs and so on all the time, fukkkkk!!! Slowdowns are followed by a marching pace, sometimes the guys hit faster with parts, but 90% of „Echoes From the Cistern” is total Death / Doom in its most sickening form. Vocals are an absolute blast! I feel like Sam Robinson puking his own guts out in some secluded house in the woods while locked in a basement full of… sewage again and all the fluids the human body can produce. The record reminds me a little of Finnish Mortiferum, there are some elements of Grave Miasma, so you already know what to expect. Totally great stuff!
