Czas już zakończyć chorobowe i mimo braku 100% zdrowotności zacząć ponownie pisać. Oj zadziwiło mnie to wydawnictwo i to mocno. Co prawda, profil muzyczny niemieckiej wytwórni Iron Bonehead Productions zmienia się już od jakiegoś czasu. Tymże logiem nie są już sygnowane wyłącznie bestialskie wydawnictwa czy przepełniony siarką piekielną, gęsty i mroczny Death Metal. Nie ma wyłącznie bezkompromisowości, a pojawia się pole dla melodyjnego Black Metalu (piję tu do recenzowanego właśnie materiału), który swoją konstrukcją utworów nawiązuje do wydawnictw filarów niemieckiego BM. Osobiście nie mam nic przeciwko, albowiem katalog wydawniczy potężnego IBH rośnie w coraz to ciekawsze wydawnictwa. Przejdźmy jednak do GRABUNHOLD, bo to przecież oni są bohaterami dzisiejszej recenzji. Młoda horda z Dortmund, która powstała w 2016 roku, prezentuje swoje najnowsze wydawnictwo „Unter dem Banner der Toten”. Po bardzo udanym demie, które słyszałem w zeszłym roku, byłem pewien, że uda im się zahaczyć w szanowanym labelu. W skład zespołu wchodzą członkowie znanych w niektórych kręgach hord Ypokosmos (wydanego również przez IBH) oraz Imha Tarikat. Czas na garść szczegółów z najnowszej EP’ki.

Przede wszystkim, jak już wspomniałem we wstępie, jest to materiał okraszony dużą dawka melodyjnych gitar. Jednakże, coś w tym siedzi. Coś magnetyzuje, przyciąga mrocznym urokiem. Wierci dziurę w umyśle, a tym samym nakazuje dopisać kolejne wydawnictwo do i tak już długiej listy w pliku 'obowiązkowe do zakupu.txt’. Jakież to jest wyśmienite granie. Jakże te podniosłe linie melodyczne są wyeksponowane! FUKK!! Partie gitar są tutaj na naprawdę najwyższym poziomie. Ciekawe jest owo nawiązanie w riffach do lat ’90-tych, gdzie i owszem – bo przy lepszej produkcji – jednak siedzi to głęboko zakorzenione w tym, co sie działo w latach 1992 – 1997 na tamtejszej scenie. Nacisk w partiach gitarowych został zdecydowanie położony na surową melodykę oraz grę akordami przy średnich i wolniejszych partiach. Sporo tutaj wspomnianego patosu, ale okrytego melancholią. Materiał jest ciekawie zróżnicowany, bo usłyszymy w utworach zróżnicowane szybkości gry, a co za tym idzie nie jest to jednostajne napierdalanie dla napierdalania. W pierwszych odsłuchach trochę irytował mnie dźwięk werbla i tomów, które są dość mocno podkręcone w studio i dalekie od naturalnego brzmienia. Pomimo to, przyzwyczaiłem się do tego brzmienia i kolejne odsłuchy wchodziły już zupełnie bezproblemowo. Duży plus należy się za wokale. Charyzmatyczne skrzeki, budujące atmosferę, ale też nie przejmujące dominacji nad resztą instrumentów. Wyważone, dobrze działające w masywnym organizmie GRABUNHOLD.

Nowa EPka Niemców jest bardzo obiecująca. Dobrze skomponowane utwory, które łatwo przyciągają uwagę słuchacza, są wręcz nagrodą za spędzony czas przy tym wydawnictwie. Polecam zapoznać się z tym materiałem, bo naprawdę warto. Staromodny Black Metal z dużą dozą linii melodycznych, które na długo zostają w głowie po przesłuchaniu „Unter dem Banner der Toten”. Jestem świadom, że dopiero co ukazał się ten materiał, ale nie zmienia to faktu, że już zacieram łapska na kolejne wydawnictwo.

It is time to end my sick leave and, despite not being 100% healthy, to start writing again. This release surprised me a lot. Admittedly, the musical profile of the German label Iron Bonehead Productions has been changing for some time now. There are no longer only bestial releases or dense and dark Death Metal filled with the brimstone of hell. There is no longer only uncompromising, but there is a field for melodic Black Metal (I’m referring to the reviewed material), which draws on the releases of the pillars of German BM. Personally, I have nothing against it, because the publishing catalogue of the mighty IBH grows in more and more interesting releases. But let’s move on to GRABUNHOLD, because they are the heroes of today’s review. The young horde from Dortmund, who formed in 2016, present their latest release „Unter dem Banner der Toten”. After the very successful demo I heard last year, I was sure they would manage to hook up on a respectable label. The band consists of members of the well-known in some circles hordes Ypokosmos (also released by IBH) and Imha Tarikat. Time for a handful of details from the latest EP.

First of all, as I mentioned in the introduction, it is a material laced with a large dose of melodic guitars. However, there is something in it. Something magnetizes, attracts with its dark charm. It drills a hole in your mind, and thus orders you to add another release to the already long list in the 'must-buy.txt’ file. What exquisite playing this is. How those solemn melodic lines are exposed! FUKK!!! The guitar parts here are really top notch. Interesting is the reference in the riffs to the 90’s, where yes, with a better production, but it is deeply rooted in what was happening between 1992 and 1997 on that scene. The emphasis in the guitar parts was definitely put on the raw melodics and chord playing in the middle and slower parts. There is a lot of pathos, but covered with melancholy. The material is interestingly diversified, because we can hear different speeds of playing in the tracks, and what follows, it is not monotonous fucking for fucking’s sake. At first listenings I was a bit annoyed by the sound of snare drum and toms, which are quite heavily turned up in the studio and far from the natural sound. Nevertheless, I got used to this sound and subsequent listens went by without any problems. A big plus should be given to vocals. Charismatic screeches, building the atmosphere, but also not dominating over the rest of instruments. Balanced, working well in the massive organism of GRABUNHOLD.

The Germans’ new EP is very promising. Well-composed songs that easily grab the listener’s attention are almost a reward for the time spent with this release. I recommend getting acquainted with this material, because it is really worth it. Old-fashioned Black Metal with a lot of melodic lines that stay in your head for a long time after listening to „Unter dem Banner der Toten”. I’m aware that this material has only just been released, but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m already rubbing my hands for the next release.
