Aktywny od 1993 roku pod nazwą Dark Sorceress, by w 1996 roku wreszcie przyjąć obecną po dziś dzień – CIRITH GORGOR, nazwę swoją zaczerpnął z dzieł J.R.R. Tolkiena. Siódmy album holendrów to mocna dawka Black Metalu, dzięki której popadłem w niemały zachwyt. Nigdy jakoś specjalnie nie śledziłem poczynań tej hordy, album „Untergang… / Победа !!!” jest w kolekcji na winylu, ale nic poza tym. Najnowszy materiał przekonuje mnie na tyle by odrobić zaległości i zagłębić się w ich twórczość.
Zacznę dość nietypowo w kontekście tego co napisałem we wstępie, albowiem gdy wybrzmiały pierwsze dźwięki otwierającego album 'Funeral March for Modern Man’ chciałem autentycznie wyłączyć płytę. Serio! Pierwsze wrażenia z tego odsłuchu były mieszane, za sprawą dziwnych partii gitar, które pojawiły się we wspomnianym utworze. Wydały mi się dość miałkie, nawet na swój sposób miłe. Jednak, wytrwałem i przy kolejnych odsłuchach albumu intro jawiło się już w umyśle jako pełnoprawny utwór tegoż wydawnictwa i nie odbijał się czkawką. Dalsza część albumu to już konkret, piekielny Black Metal. W kompozycjach słychać, że inspiracje są czerpane w pełni z tego, co w BM najlepsze. Mamy agresywne, blastujące partie, są zwolnienia, harmonie gitar, riffy pełne melodyki tremolo oraz te bardziej rozdzierające bezpośredniością. Być może dźwięk jest zbyt sterylny, w szczególności triggery na perkusji – całość jednakże daje niesamowicie radę. Finalny miks bardzo zadowala, a słyszalność poszczególnych instrumentów jest nader czytelna. Największym atutem, bez którego w moim mniemaniu, „Sovereign” nie miałby aż takiego uderzenia, są wokale. Satanael, który już nie jest w zespole, wraz z Levithmongiem uderzyli w sedno swoimi wokalami!!! Skrzeki, deklamacje, czyste zawodzące chórki, szepty, wykrzyczane frazy…
CIRITH GORGOR zgotował nam naprawdę kawał dobrej muzy. Black Metal w wykonaniu tej holenderskiej hordy jest pełen nienawiści, Zła i wrodzonej złośliwości, która niczym rak toczy słuchacza. Trucizna wysokiej skuteczności.

Active since 1993 under the name Dark Sorceress and in 1996 finally adopted its present-day name – CIRITH GORGOR, taking its name from the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. The seventh album of the Dutchmen is a strong dose of Black Metal, which made me quite delighted. I’ve never followed the activities of this horde, but the album „Untergang… / Победа !!!” is in the collection on vinyl, but nothing else. The newest material convinces me enough to catch up with their work.
I’ll start quite untypically in the context of what I wrote in the introduction, because when the first sounds of the opening 'Funeral March for Modern Man’ resounded I wanted to genuinely turn the record off. Really! My first impressions from this listening were mixed, due to the strange guitar parts that appeared in the aforementioned track. They seemed rather shallow to me, even nice in their own way. However, I persevered and during subsequent listens of the album the intro appeared in my mind as a full-fledged track of this release and did not cause any hiccups. The rest of the album is concrete, infernal Black Metal. In the compositions you can hear that the inspiration is drawn fully from what is the best in BM. We have aggressive, blasting parts, there are slowdowns, guitar harmonies, riffs full of tremolo melodics and those more tearing with directness. Maybe the sound is too sterile, especially the triggers on the drums – however, the whole gives an amazingly good performance. The final mix is very satisfying, and the audibility of individual instruments is very clear. The greatest asset, without which, in my opinion, „Sovereign” wouldn’t have such an impact, are the vocals. Satanael, who is no longer in the band, along with Levithmong hit the spot with his vocals!!! Screeches, declamations, pure wailing choruses, whispers, shouted phrases….
CIRITH GORGOR gave us a really good piece of music. Black Metal performed by this Dutch horde is full of hatred, Evil and innate malice, which like a cancer spreads over the listener. Poison of high efficiency.
