Około miesiąc temu wpadł mi w ręce WOLVES’ WINTER – 'Necrosophic Illumination’ i było to moje pierwsze zetknięcie z tą Argentyńską hordą, ale już po pierwszym przesłuchaniu wiedziałem, że na pewno nie będzie ono ostatnie. Zespół powstał w 2008 roku, a w jego skład wchodzi pięciu muzyków, którzy udzielali się, bądź nadal udzielają się w wielu innych argentyńskich zespołach, a co ciekawe w swoich projektach nie zawsze trzymają się tylko black metalu. Nieobcy jest im Heavy, thrash czy death metal, przez co WOLVES’ WINTER jest tak zajebiście oryginalnym tworem.
Zanim z chaosu wyłonił się 'Necrosophic Illumination’ zespół na swoim koncie zarejestrował album koncertowy, dwie demówki, split i kompilację. Opisywana EP trwa ponad 30 minut i zawiera pięć utworów, w tym trzy studyjne i dwa koncertowe. Muzyka zawarta na tym niezbyt długim nagraniu to apoteoza pierwotnej ciemności, utrzymana w średnich i szybkich tempach. Gitary wybrzmiewają szybkie i ostre riffy, a perkusja dość wyraźnie zalatuje piekielnym thrash metalem, aż stopa sama porusza się w wybijany w bębny rytm. Wokal jest bardzo chropowaty, bardzo poprawny, ale pasujący także do death metalowych wyziewów. Na tym nagraniu znalazły się również liczne chórki, które wynoszą ten materiał na zupełnie inny poziom, wsłuchując się w te dźwięki odnoszę wrażenie jakbym był na czarnej mszy, gdzie za chwilę zostanie złożona ofiara dla wiecznej nocy. Co ciekawe, jest taki jeden moment związany ze wspomnianymi chórkami, gdzie mam skojarzenia z Bathory z okresu, w którym nagrywał płyty w stylu viking/black metal. Muzyka tworzona przez Argentyńczyków mocno przyciąga do siebie niesamowitą atmosferą, do tego stopnia, że słuchając jej w nocnych ciemnościach przy blasku świecy czuję jakbym sam brał udział w zapomnianym rytuale, wielka szkoda, że to taki krótki materiał. Jeżeli lubicie takie twory jak Horna, Sargeist czy Satanic Warmaster, to gwarantuję Wam, że WOLVES’ WINTER i ich epka również trafią w Wasze gusta. Może zespół nie wybija się tu ponad wymienione wyżej kapele, ale warto sięgnąć po tę pozycję i dać się pochłonąć przez mrok zamknięty w tych dźwiękach.

About a month ago I got my hands on WOLVES’ WINTER – 'Necrosophic Illumination’ and it was my first contact with this Argentinian horde, but after the first listening I knew that it certainly won’t be the last one. The band was formed in 2008, and it consists of five musicians who have been, or still are, involved in many other Argentinean bands, and what’s interesting, in their projects they don’t always stick to black metal only. They are no stranger to Heavy, thrash or death metal, which makes WOLVES’ WINTER such a fucking original creation.
Before 'Necrosophic Illumination’ emerged from the chaos the band had recorded a live album, two demos, a split and a compilation. The described EP lasts over 30 minutes and contains five tracks, including three studio and two live ones. The music contained on this not too long recording is an apotheosis of primordial darkness, maintained in medium to fast tempos. The guitars ring out with fast and sharp riffs, and the drums quite clearly reek of hellish thrash metal, until the foot itself moves into the pounding rhythm of the drums. The vocals are very rough, very correct, but also fitting for death metal fumes. On this recording there are also numerous choruses, which take this material to a completely different level, listening to these sounds I have the impression of being at a black mass, where in a moment the sacrifice for the eternal night will be made. Interestingly, there is one moment related to the mentioned choruses, where I have associations with Bathory from the period when they recorded albums in the style of viking/black metal. The music created by the Argentines strongly attracts with its incredible atmosphere, to the extent that listening to it in the night darkness by candlelight I feel as if I took part in a forgotten ritual myself. If you are fond of such creations as Horna, Sargeist or Satanic Warmaster, I guarantee that WOLVES’ WINTER and their ep will also hit your senses. Maybe the band does not stand out above the bands mentioned above, but it is worth reaching for this release and let yourself be absorbed by the darkness closed in these sounds.
